t009 error nest x yale lock

Hi,

I posted this several weeks ago. "

When I attempt to link the nest x yale lock to nest connect the message says that it has connected and is 'finishing setup.' I am then sent to a page that displays error T009 and advised to move the nest connect closer. This seems surprising as the nest connect is 5 feet away.

Can you please advise how to resolve this error?"

I received this feedback.

"

Thanks for posting here in the Community forum, and I'm sorry to hear about the situation. Can you try the following steps below?

  1. Reset the joining device to default.
  2. Restart the modem and router.
  3. Move all devices being used for pairing closer to the router.
  4. Check the network settings."

I've done all of the above and still receive the T009 error. Is there something else to do here? I am a bit confused as the nest connect is connected to my network and I have several other nest products that work.

Should I return the lock at this point and attempt to buy a functional lock from another vendor?

Have you tried setting up with only your wifi on? Turn off the phones cellular data connection but keep the wifi on. Place phone in airplane mode turn on the wifi..  create a 2.4Ghz Wifi guest network if you do not already have one. Make sure there is no security on it. Connect your Nest Connect to the guest network and when you have done that connect your phone to the same network. Use the options or settings menu in the Nest application to find your connect. Once you get the Nest Connect on to your guest network you can then begin to pair your lock to your nest connect. Follow the steps to pair you Lock through the nest.

Once connected and paired to your lock rejoin your secured network

I attempted the fix above -- I was able to connect the nest lock to the unsecured network. When I toggled over to the secure network I was able to interact with the nest lock for about 5 minutes. I now see that the nest lock is listed as 'disconnected' from the network.

Any guidance at this stage?

Good ok and what ghz is your main network? And do you have any other security items such as cameras on the same network?

Any ideas on when I can expect an email?

I presently see Nest Connect on the list of devices on my network. Now, when I attempt to connect the nest lock I receive the message "privacy mode is on" when I hold down the button to pair the lock. Any guidance here? Return lock and buy something functional?

Hi wallace0000,

I apologize for the delayed response and for the issues you are having with the Nest x Yale Lock. No worries; I’m here to help.

If the lock says “Privacy mode is on” or “Privacy mode is off,” the lock is still paired with your account.

Follow the steps below:

  1. To remove the lock from your account, on the Nest app home screen, select your lock > tap Settings > Remove lock.
  2. Factory reset the Nest × Yale Lock.

This video guide may help: How to reset your Nest × Yale Lock

Keep me posted.

I appreciate your help, Michaelsexton2 and Zoe.

Best,

Lance

Hello wallace0000,

Buzzing in — do you still need our help? Don't hesitate to reach back if you do.

Regards,

Lance

The main network is 5ghz. I am using a netgear orbi rbr750 mesh network w/ 3 satellites. As noted previously, the device was able to connect to the guest network and temporarily to the main network.

I have 2x nest cameras and 2x nest thermostats successfully connected to the main network. It seems like a weird design decision that different nest devices would have different communication protocols.

I'm basically at the point where I need to figure out if I need to rip the nest lock out of the door and return it (as it is non functional as a smart device). Appreciate any help!
