Google nest hub update broke nest cam feeds

Looks like a software update was pushed to my Google nest hubs and when I go to home control and to my nest cams, instead of a live feed from the cam coming up, I get a screen that says “idle” then name of the camera and room and “live feed” at bottom.  I can’t figure out how to get the live feed on the display any longer.  Anyone have the same problem and know the fix?

Hey everyone,

We appreciate the feedback regarding the issue affecting camera streaming on your Nest Hub displays. Our engineering team has rolled out a fix for the issue. If you're still experiencing a problem with viewing your cameras on your display, try rebooting your device. Please let us know if the issue persists after the reboot and include as much detail as possible.

Thank you for your patience.

As of 2/14/2025 at 9:30am all 11 of my Hub Max's are doing them same. Says idle and mashing the live button does nothing.  But if I speak for it to show the camera they do come up. But will not under home control.  Maybe they will fix it soon....

So I have my hubs show the camera in my son's room. Set as an automation. Instead, it's now turning on the TVs in the house and displaying on there. Google are a constant joke. How do they continue to break things?? You're one of the biggest companies in the world. Test things properly!

Hello Google. My indoor 2021 external powerd camera fails. Tried a lot off power reboots, Time and facial recognition is still working, but no video image of the camera on Android or Apple IOS. In Google home message "device offline" but till now my face is recognized when i arrive. Last recorded and viewable video image 10 Febuary 22:10 Amsterdam timezone.  Google Camera model GJQ9T. Is there a manual way to rollback the firmware, I've some sys admin knowledge. Regards Johan

I have two nest hubs and two cameras  - I set up routines to display the cameras on both of my hubs every hour because some time the feed will stop displaying. It has work for a couple of years with no problems. About a week or so ago the routines no longer work. I can say Hey google, show me the driveway or front door it works, When the routine runs now it comes back and say not understood, For some reason  "probably an update" it no longer understands the commands in the routine. Command was just show driveway and show front door. Any update on this. Sometimes the will interpret the command as a search and display info about a door or driveway

My hubs are still broken, i can use the voice command or go to the nest hubs and select the camera's and it works. The routines I've been using for two years no longer work. Show Driveway or Show Front Door no longer work. The device replys with "I don't understand". I can put a command in like Date or Weather and that works. It no longer understands the commands that have worked for two years.

The rollback may have worked, but my automation to invoke the streaming on my Nest Hub is failing. If I just say "Drive way camera" it plays fine. But put the same automation task with that and it fails 😞

Yea, i know there was an update pushed out a week or so back but this seems to be a problem with the google severs, It not interpreting the comannds now  --show drive - show front door anymore. It replies with

"don't undrstand"

I have also tried many other commands  -- no luck

Same thing happened to me.

Came here looking for a solution to this exact problem.

Are your cameras Google cameras or

I opened a ticket with nest support, I was on the phone an hour and half with them. They are looking in to it.

Update: I have two "homes" under my account, HOUSE and CLAYTON. I always set the devices up in HOUSE, the devices show up under HOUSE but under CLAYTON they show up as local devices. I deleted all my devices again and remove and reinstalled the home app. I added back on one hub for testing. Its in my devices under HOUSE but under CLAYTON it shows up as a local device. I created a new routine and in HOUSE when I run it and select the DISPLAY in the routine it does not work. I can switch to CLAYTON and run it works. The only difference is that in CLAYTON i can't select a display, in HOUSE in can. When I added the device I added it in HOUSE. So it understands the command "Show the Front Door" and "Show tHe Driveway" only in CLAYTON -- the display is in local only.. So this might help to figure out what is going on. I'm going to add my second hub later and see what happens

Update 2:   I added the second hub to HOUSE,  i can see he device in HOUSE,   in CLAYTON   I see both devices in local devices. Now the routine will not Display my cameras from CLAYTON from the routine in CLAYTON, I went over to HOUSE and deleted the second hub and went back to CLAYTON and ran the routine and it works. So with two local devices in CLAYTON I guess it does not know where to display, I thought this was a google server problem but now I think it was with that last update to the hubs.. Please fix...trhanks
