Hub Max doesn't display Family Notes.

My Hub will create a Family Note, but when it returns to the main screen it doesn't show the note in the top right hand corner.  I have to ask "Google, show me family notes". Then it'll pull it up.  I'm trying to create a sticky note to use at home so we know if our dog has been fed that morning or evening.  This seemed like a perfect solution, but not if we have to manually pull up the notes Every time. Any suggestions?

I also have this issue where my family notes don't show up on the ambient screens for both my Nest Hub 2 and Nest Hub Max -- however are available when asking the google assistant. Just adding that the help centre page lists the ability of family notes to "stick on the ambient screen on all your Smart Displays in the same home for 24 hours". Looking forward to any solutions!

Thank you both for reaching out. I am sorry to hear that your Family Notes feature is not working. I understand your concern and would be more than happy to help you two.

 

Currently, this is an emerging issue and our team is currently investigating it. In order for the team to look into this issue further, I would appreciate it if you tried to attempt using the Family Notes feature again and then immediately send in feedback using the keywords, "GHT3 Family notes not showing on ambient" from either your device or the Home app. You can check out this article for more information on how to do so.

Dear Frances, do you know when this will be fixed? It has now been almost a year since this problem has occurred and still no fix or even the slightest reply from Google. I am deeply dependent on this feature, please, I hope Google can fix it soon. I know it's not your fault, not blaming you personally.

Are you from Google, or a member of the community, as this seems to be a continuous problem for 3 years now. The notes are still not displaying on the ambient screens, and when I command "show me family notes", Google says she doesn't understand and pulls up random articles on Google, most of which are irrelevant..like songs with the word "notes" in them.

Thanks for sharing details about the issue here. I know how important Family Notes are, as it will help to remind everyone in the family. Please note that once a Family Note is created, it sticks on the ambient screen on all displays in the same home for 24 hours. After that, it will show up on the My Day page on display.

Muddi, to be clear, that is NOT what happens.  It does NOT display on ambient mode for 24 hours.  This has been going on now for almost 2 years.  Please confirm you understand the issue.

Muddi please read the WHOLE thread, there's a LOT of people who STILL has this problem with family notes and yes, they have already tried everything you suggested and yes they do know already how to use this feature, it is not because we are clueless people, it is because this feature DOES NOT WORK, okay?

Two years and this is the response lol. I'm to the point where this is no longer frustrating, it's just comical. Guys, please do yourself a favor and sell your google devices, replace them with Echo Shows, and you won't be disappointed. After spending nearly $500 on Google devices, a defect/bug THIS small should not take THIS long to fix. Not to mention it doesn't seem like anyone who is capable of fixing it, fully understands the issue. With the Echo Show upcoming update, where FireTV will be supported, I'll be able to use Youtube/Youtube TV apps, which was the only thing lacking. Now I'll have that, and the sticky/private note features working flawlessly.  Amazon for the win! Cheaper devices, better support.

To confirm, are the notes showing on the "My Day" page? Also, does it shows on screen when you ask your device about your notes?

Muddi, are you telling me that this community is the only community where the Notes no longer appear on the ambient mode?  (Not sure what you call my day, but when this was working, I would leave a Note and it would stay on the ambient view.  example:  "I fed the Dog" would stay so when my daughter came down she would see the dog was feed without having to ask google to show the family notes.)  Are you insinuating that this is working for everyone else, but not us?

Muddi.... when I ASK google to show me the family note I made, then yes, it will show it on my "day page" but it will not stick on or show it on the Ambient screen, I hope you understand this.

Just wanted to jump in here to let you know that while we don't have any further information on this, as Frances stated, this is a bug that we are aware of and the engineering team is currently investigating and working on this. Unfortunately no ETA on a fix is given at this time.

I posted on the original thread.  The problem remains for me.  I can call for a family note on the Hub Max, but it does not appear on the ambient screen.  I thought the problem might go away with a new phone.  It did not.  A fix would be great.

Hi, I'm also still having trouble with it. Same issue as the others on here, I can create the family note and call it up but it won't show as a sticky note, only when I ask to see it. Your support team on Facebook laughed at me several times when I contacted them regarding this and said it MUST be a user problem, although I know I haven't done anything wrong or different, it simply stopped working and as you can see on this thread I am not the only one with the problem.

I put this problem up in the old Google nest community about 3 months ago when it started happening on my Max.  Just tried again, same issue.  Family notes will come up if prompted, but never show on ambient screen (which makes this feature kind of useless).

I already return my hub max a few months ago because of this problem. I just went today and buy another one thinking that Gooole had fix the problem but they did not after a few months so I am returning this one as well. I should learn not to ever buy any  Google products again as they never fix their bugs. The Wear OS watch is full of bugs since the last 2 years and nothing is being fix even with all the complains online.

I also have this problem on ALL of my Nest Hub Max and Nest Hub devices and I really need this feature since I have trouble with my memory. Family Notes helped me a lot through the day, a huge part of the reason why I bought the Nest Hub screens but now its very frustrating. I really hope that you'll find a fix for it soon, it seems that you're having a lot of errors on your devices lately with the g logo stuck thing as well and it has all been going on for several months, too long imo.

I am having a hard time understanding why this issue cannot be addressed.  This is a functionality that worked perfectly on my Nest Hub Max (and was one of the main reasons for my purchase) for several months before being disabled.  Very frustrated

I just got the Nest Max for Christmas & this one of the features I was excited about using. Out the box it's not working for me. Can't get it to work. This seems to be the only thread online where I can find people complaining about it

I spent the better part of 1 hour looking for a setting to enable showing the notes on the ambient screen until I found this thread. No point in me using family notes if they are not displayed automatically to advise family members.... Ugh

Over a year and nothing from Google to resolve this. I've learned not to purchase any Google products because they don't support them and rarely addresses issues. They also have the worse rating. Just check trustpilot or other independent ratings, Google is rated the worst of any tech company. 

You are absolutely right. I started to replace all my 08 google speakers slowly with the Amazon ones and they are all flawless. Lots of money but worth It.

I also want to replace my android phones with I phones and get an Apple watch that is working well as oppose to wear OS watch where It's full of glitches and never fix even after 2 years

I've done the same thing. Got an Amazon Show to compare with the Google hub and Amazon blows Google away. Switched out two Google speakers for Alexa and couldn't be happier. Plus Amazon supports their products! Had an issue with one speaker, contacted Amazon and they replaced it in two days without any headaches.

Reached out to support and guess what... ZERO help! The guy said I probably did something wrong. I linked him to this thread and still he didn't seem to care. I think I'm done with Google devices as well, I already own Alexa as well and now they just released a big screen with widgets, I might as well go buy that one as well, it has sticky notes on it and can help me out now that the nest hubs are all sorta dead and Google has no intention of fixing them.

You should see my support emails. Six of them all identical. Obviously a bot program saying it's being looking into by a specialized team. Yeah right, nothing is being done. Google is the worst!

Here it is, the regular Sunday email from Google support. Every one exactly the same for six weeks now.  What a joke!  Stay away from any Google products!

At least you got a somewhat "friendly" reply and some hope of them working on the issue, with me the guy said they hadn't really gotten any complaints on this issue so they haven't really heard about it being a thing and I should try rebooting or factory resetting.  Lol he wouldn't even acknowledge they had a problem until I linked him to this thread and even then he just said "people should always use the feedback feature ". Yeah...

Just adding another data point. Family Notes used to show fine on my Google Hub (Gen 1). It hasn't worked for me for months. Now Family Notes only show on the "your day" screen or whatever that's called. Kind of defeats the point of being like a "sticky" note. Now I wonder if the timing for when it broke corresponds to the OS change from Cast OS to Fuchsia OS on the Google Hub.

Any updates from anyone? I recently purchased a nest hub max, and this was one of the features I was looking forward to. Same issue as everyone else, I can leave a note but it only gives me the option to be reminded at a certain time. I want to be able to pin a note to the ambient screen or leave a private note for a specific family member. I thought this was possible, but clearly not. I guess I should return with it being over a year and no update? Wow.

Well they ask if we still have a problem so they can help us with it but apparently they don't mean it, cause they are not replying back when we are all telling them "yes, we still have the same issue". Maybe they think we are joking... Sorry, I don't mean to be rude, I'm just very frustrated since the support team on fb are very unhelpful as well, they won't even acknowledge the problem. But yes, I still have this issue as well, to sum up: I can create the sticky note, the assistant will show it to me when asked for but it won't stick to the Ambient screen as its supposed to. Please help with a fix soon, I am very dependent with these notes in my daily life. Thanks.

Same issue. The functionality is so pointless without the notes showing on the ambient screen. I returned the google nest hub max after I saw so many old articles over a year old with little to no updates. It’s crazy to me something so small hasn’t been fixed yet. It’s also something they advertise (notes showing on ambient screen). I just switched to an echo show 15 with under cabinet mount. Notes pin to the front of the widgets section when you add one. Happy with my choice!

This issue still continues.  Please advise if this issue will be addressed or if we should assume this isn't going to revert back to what was available when the family note first rolled out.
