My issue is that the live radio stations in Romania stopped working since Wednesday (April 9, 2025) on Google Nest Hub 2.
I did the following steps to troubleshoot:
1. upon checking the radio service in the Google Home app (on iOS 18.4), I noticed that the Radio category under Settings/Services is not present as it is described in this support link. I was using TuneIn for radio streaming.
2. I tried opening the same live radio streams from another iOS app (Simple Radio, which has Chromecast support) in Google Nest, but the result was the same as when using TuneIn: the app is opened, but the stream is not played.
3. The live radio stations can be played on the phone (iPhone 15 Pro Max) in either TuneIn or Simple Radio.
4. As advised in another post, I sent the feedback.
5. The firmware update for Google Nest is on auto-update.
6. I tried from Google Assistant app, via routines (set up a routine for 7 AM or associated a phrase). Both of these involve the action "play radio", and as indicated in point #1, radio services are missing in Google Home app.
This is extremely frustrating. Please investigate and advise.

Same problem I hope a fix comes very soon.

Try asking it to play on TuneIn. It defaults to Rayo / Global which seems to be the issue (in the UK at least)

I've decided to cast to the speaker from a chrome browser, being disinterested in corporate licensing issues.
Update : As of May 5th, the hub does not stream via iHeartRadio, TuneIn, or Audacy. They all have the same experience of launching the respective app and failing.

it’s a good idea. my radio station has a cast app but the speakers refuse to play it when cast. i can cast from a browser if I’m sitting at my desk working but that doesn’t help me when I’m in my bed trying to wake up to my radio station. I’m glad it works for you.

That exact same thing annoys the heck out of me, not being able to use it as a wake-up alarm clock by playing radio station..
04-28-2025 01:17 PM
today i gave up on google! instead i made an automation on my iphone (go to the shortcuts app and click the automations tab). my shortcut is "when my wakeup alarm is stopped, play kcrw". i had already created a shortcut that defined what "play kcrw" does. so now, at least it will play on my iphone which is better than nothing. i'm sure somebody smarter than me knows how to make a shortcut to get it to then play on your google speaker via bluetooth. that is, assuming google hasn't broken that function yet!

Well, it's nice knowing people found workarounds to this. My personal opinion is that:
1. I don't have an iPhone, but an Android phone (OnePlus) so not sure if I can do the same;
2. It totally defeats the purpose of the NestHub which I have paid for in the first place, including the **bleep** functionality of playin' the internet radio.
But well, you are right, somethin' gotta give
04-28-2025 01:33 PM
i hear ya! i paid to have one in every room and now they are useless except to make me furious everytime i ask for something!
04-28-2025 09:32 PM
My workaround is that i had a spare Nest Mini (because one of the kids decided he preferred Echo Dot). I have put the Nest Mini in my bedroom next to the Nest Hub. The Nest Mini, cheaper and more basic, can still play audio streams which the nest hub can’t. Frustrating that I need to use a second device, but at least I can have the radio again.

Similar issue in Singapore as well. The screen blinks and seems to load and buffer and then eventually timeout and unable to play.
Please investigate and its very very frustrating

Hello all, I had a chat session with a Google support agent today and was told by a senior support engineer this is a know issue with Nest devices with no estmated time of resolution. I would urge anybody experiencing the same problems to log a case with Google support. That way it may get resolved quicker. A community forum can easily be ignored, incidents logged with the support team not so much.
04-29-2025 05:16 PM
how do you do that? log a case with Google support? i say to the speaker "send feedback" and then complain. but what other ways are there?
fwiw. i have google mini and google nest and none of them work so it seems it's the whole dang product line and seems to be happening inside the US and Internationally.

I'm in Canada. I'm finding the very same issues with multiple Canadian radio stations I've tried on the Google Home. BUT I can ask it to play a US station and it does. Could it be a block on local content somehow?
Also, same as above, the radio will stream on the Google mini with no issues and I can cast to the Home speaker. I can cast TuneIn (new install) from my phone to the Home speaker, all good. Spotify & iTunes all work and everything is on the same network.
Google Home just will not complete the request to play a 'local' radio station.

Many US stations stream on the iHeart app and they are unaffected... even Canadian stations using iHeart stream just fine.

I still cannot live streem my favorite radio station (WBJC) via Tune In on either of my Google Nest Hub Maxs I can stream other stations using Tune In, but not this particular one. I can streem the radio station (again, via Tune In) on my Google Nest Hubs, but not on my Nest Hub Max. As have others done, I factory reset my Hub Max, but to no avail. This problem started on April 25th. Given the cost of the device, this problem in unacceptable.
Please invesigate and fix this glitch.
Thank you

Same issue, very frustrating

Yep I've moved my Nest Hub Max and now use the Pixel Speaker

I'm in Canada and this issue started for me last Friday or so. I can't listen to KEXP on TuneIn or casting from my phone using the KEXP app. Works fine on my phone, Android Auto, Google TV, etc. Just the Nest. TuneIn works fine for local radio stations, but I can't listen to KEXP.
05-01-2025 06:42 AM
This is super frustrating!!!!!!! None of my radio stations play on Tune In!!!!!! HELP!!!!!!!!!
05-01-2025 06:49 AM
I got a message from the Global Player team on the 30th saying it was now fixed, and indeed it is.
05-01-2025 07:02 AM
Did you require a reboot of your Nest Hub? Or any other maintenance measures such as an update...
Just tried here (KEXP Seattle via TuneIn in Canada) and it is still broken.
05-01-2025 07:47 AM
I’m in the States, STILL trying to access WBJC (Baltimore) via TuneIn..nothing.
05-04-2025 05:49 AM
Not in Canada at least. Citynews 680 which is available thru TuneIn does not work. It works on the Mini tho...
Any radio that streams thru iheart seems to be working on the hub tho. But not TuneIn !
05-01-2025 07:20 AM
No it literally just started working again.
05-05-2025 07:08 AM
So what happened? You are saying that Tunein is now playing okay on your Nest Hub when you ask it to?
05-01-2025 09:59 PM
Any update on this issue? It is very frustrating and inconvenience not be able to use the radio app. Hopefully there’s a fix soon
05-02-2025 09:01 PM
Same issue in Australia. Google Nest won't play anything from TuneIn, Radio Ap and I heart Radio, yet Google mini plays all of them. Has only happened since the Google Nest was updated about a week ago.
05-05-2025 07:06 AM
Hi Sharyn, I'm in Perth... my Nest Hub stopped playing Tunein about two weeks ago, but no problems when I use one of my other two Mini's. Have tried all the current suggestions, but nothing. No hair left to pull out!!!
05-08-2025 03:49 PM
Same problem. I'm on the NSW South Coast. There was the same issue with RadioApp which was fixed, but my Nest Hub Max will not play radio on iHeartradio or Tune In, ie "hey Google play 2SM" or Curtin Radio...nothing. They still work on my Google Home Mini speakers though???
05-09-2025 05:51 AM
It's back working..........!!!!! (Fri 9 May at 8.35pm Perth time)
Just tried "Hey Google, play MoreFM Queenstown"... one of my favourites and low and behold it came up on TuneIn and started playing. Last tried doing this three days ago and it didn't work. Haven't done anything to the Nest Hub in the past days. Let's hope that access to TuneIn can now keep going. Who knows what the issue was.
05-03-2025 01:41 AM
If you're in the UK You can ask for your radio station to play on TuneIn insteaad of the default. So for me If I ask "OK Google, Play Absolute Radio on Tunein" I've only tried this wth Absolute but I assume it works with others
05-03-2025 02:02 AM
Thanks Gallen for the suggestion, but none of them will work. Even tried getting Absolute Radio but Tunein in Australia doesn't recognise it.
05-06-2025 06:44 AM
Is google doing something to rectify this issue? Seems like there’s no response
05-06-2025 07:01 AM
We know as much as you do. No response from anyone from Google.
05-06-2025 07:10 AM
Yeah... Google has gone... Radio Silent.

Thank you very much for your time and patience. I have consulted with our higher department, and they have confirmed that this is a known, ongoing issue affecting radio playback on Google devices such as speakers and displays.
Our engineering team is actively working to resolve this as quickly as possible. In the meantime, if you could submit feedback again detailing the issue, it would be very helpful, as this information goes directly to our higher-level department.
