Live Radio stations on Google Nest Hub stopped working

My issue is that the live radio stations in Romania stopped working since Wednesday (April 9, 2025) on Google Nest Hub 2.

I did the following steps to troubleshoot:

1. upon checking the radio service in the Google Home app (on iOS 18.4), I noticed that the Radio category under Settings/Services is not present as it is described in this support link. I was using TuneIn for radio streaming.

2. I tried opening the same live radio streams from another iOS app (Simple Radio, which has Chromecast support) in Google Nest, but the result was the same as when using TuneIn: the app is opened, but the stream is not played. 

3. The live radio stations can be played on the phone (iPhone 15 Pro Max) in either TuneIn or Simple Radio. 

4. As advised in another post, I sent the feedback. 

5. The firmware update for Google Nest is on auto-update. 

6. I tried from Google Assistant app, via routines (set up a routine for 7 AM or associated a phrase). Both of these involve the action "play radio", and as indicated in point #1, radio services are missing in Google Home app. 

This is extremely frustrating. Please investigate and advise.

Agreed, long time for a regression like this to last. However, internet radio connectivity has resumed for my device this morning (like others in this thread) - very happy it is back!

My problem started on April 25.  Same as everyone else’s.

Can’t stream one radio station (WBJC-Baltimore, Maryland, United States) via Tune-In on both of my Google Nest Hub Max(s).

I can stream other radio stations via Tune-In on the same devices; I can stream this particular station via Tune-In on other Google devices.

I factory-reset the Nest Hub Max(s)…to no avail.

I contacted Google directly via email.  I now have a case #, where Google has instructed me to do everything that I have done already.  The emails seem AI-generated because they have been instructing me to do everything that I have already done.

I have directed Google to this forum so it can see all of our complaints.  However, given that the messages I receive from Google seem to AI-generated, this probably falls on deaf ears.

Hopefully, someone at Google is monitoring this, and are taking the appropriate actions to fix this glitch.

The Google Nest Hub Max is NOT an inexpensive piece of equipment.

You’re right, it is upsetting that our voices are not being heard. It would be nice to hear from someone at Google that they are at least monitoring this and they know of the problem. I also filed a resolution case about it.

Just for fun, I checked a few minutes ago and TuneIn (Canada) is working on my nest hub for CFTR-FM which is 680 News Toronto.  Will see if it keeps working

same! this morning, it worked on both my old google home mini and my nest mini. first time in months. it still played KCRW 2 (which is their 24 hour music - internet station) and not the live broadcast of KCRW FM Los Angeles... so still not 100%. but it was a shocking development. I'm sure it won't last and i'm still not buying anymore of their products if they're not going to support us. ! still can't set it to play the radio with the morning alarm, so i guess i'll buy a $10 clock radio and save my money!

Nothing special, was just walking by it yesterday and asked it to play 680News and poof.. all good!  Working this morning too.  I have 2 nest hubs, both are streaming on TuneIn again.

can u share what firmware version u  r running ? mine still does not work after rebooting.

i dont want to factory reset especially most reported it sort itself out without resetting / setting up again.

Everything just started working again for me as well. In correspondence with Google support they never acknowledged any kind of broader issue, just asked me if I linked my apps or asked me to restart. Happy things appear to be resolved, not too impressed with the transparency from Google.

All my streaming magically started working again last Sunday on both by Nest Hubs 2nd generation here in Australia. No notifications or restarts. I just got curious and tried after reading reports here that the issue was resolved for some.

Radio Station in Singapore is working now. Taking too long to resolve this issue though. Nevertheless thank you for fixing this issue for all of us.

Thanks! That's weird, I have tried Class 95 too and Gold 90.5 but both did not work on both my google displays... I have also tried restarting them... sigh... maybe I gotta wait for their "new" update to be pushed down?

not in Canada or at least not for me. Reboot  and Toronto Citynews 680 still wont stream thru TuneIn on the hub 😞

I am also confirming that it started working again in Romania. Rock FM Romania is now being streamed.

No reboot, no factory reset. Just the same routine which runs each morning.

It seems like the filing of support case requests really did the difference.

Just tried "Hey Google, play MoreFM Queenstown"... one of my favourites and low and behold it came up on TuneIn and started playing. Last tried doing this three days ago and it didn't work. Haven't done anything to the Nest Hub in the past days. Let's hope that access to TuneIn can now keep going. Who knows what the issue was. 😁😄

Same versions on both my devices.  Hope that helps

Thanks for replying. I am in Toronto ON as well and my firmware is 2201 (last 4 digits). Looks like urs is the most current version and fixes the bug. And I can not update or force downgrade the firmware, just have to wait for Google to push it to me whenever they feel like. I even live chat and opened a ticket with Google and nth can be done, just said it will happen 😡

I'm having the same issue but with one of the stations I listen to on iHeart (Boom FM but no issues with Bounce FM) there both on iHeart. Weird

A couple of stations will stream fine from TuneIn. Just not AM680 which I listens to every morning.

iheart radio was working 2 weeks ago and not anymore. Behave just like the failed tunein station, open and then nth…

TuneIn and global player seems to be working in UK but Rayo still hangs and does nothing I have to say play on TuneIn or it defaults to Rayo and then nothing, I thought this was all fixed it clearly isn't what is happening???

I am having similar issues.  My google nest hub max quit playing radio stations from tunein.  I am in Canada.  Does anyone know when this will be fixed?

I can confirm on my hub 2nd gen, tunein am680 works again after I received the latest firmware (2600). 
Some users had that version pushed to their device a week before mine and that’s why some reported it resumed working while mine still did not until today.

Dear All, that you so much for all your comments and reactions. It seems that the activity on this post caught some attention from Google, and the issue was fixed.

Some are experiencing this as being "fixed" but other haven't received the latest version (or patch). My Hub Max IS now playing all radio stations via TuneIn, since 9 May... FWIW I did not need to restart but perhaps it auto-updated overnight  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯  

Google's comment on my support ticket:

Just wanted to let you know that the issue you were experiencing should now be resolved.

However, if you continue to encounter the problem on your end, please try restarting your Nest Hub Max. This often helps to clear any temporary glitches.

Let me know if the problem persists after the restart.

Well, it was fixed for about three weeks, and now it’s started again.  I can’t get stream my radio station via Tune-in on any of my Google Nest Hub Devices, and also not on my Lenovo clock.  This is more than frustrating, since it was fixed earlier and now not working again.

It's under Settings/Services in the Home app, scroll to the right.  I think it's for Premium services, not really needed to stream from TuneIn or iHeart.. neither of which appear in my home app but they work just fine if I want to stream a radio station from either service

It looks the same to me at iPhone iOS 18.5  Google Home 3.34.47, and at Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Android 15 , Google Home 3.32
