Nest Hub Max not working after factory reset, won't connect to wifi during setup process

Problem:

FIXED: It appears to be fixed. I split my wifi and it worked after that, but it's not clear if it worked *because* of that. Either way, I'm happy to have the hub functional again.

My Nest Hub Max isn't working after factory reset - can't complete setup process, won't connect to wifi

So far I've restarted my phone, moved the hub next to the router, closed and open google home app, factory reset the hub multiple times, put the hub into recovery mode before resetting again, checked the password, and successfully set up other devices already.

I really hope the hub is not broken! I just moved and removed this from my google home by mistake, and then I had to factory reset it. Now it's not working. I'm hoping someone will have a suggestion that will get it working again.

What exactly happens during setup? Does the Home app detect your display? Do you see an error message in the app or on the display?

It is working now, and I have not bricked my device it seems! I'm not sure what fixed it, though.

I would see an error in the app "There was a problem communicating with the Nest Hub Max".

It started looking like the hub was actually connecting to wifi and cutting out, based on the hub display. I eventually split my wifi into 2 distinctly named bands and connected the hub to the 2.4ghz. It worked, but I'm not sure if it was just time it needed or if the wifi split helped. Going to recombine wifi now, let's hope it still works.

Glad to hear it. That kind of error can often be an issue with the phone or tablet or a problem with your router settings. Sometimes a simple restart of the phone or tablet and/or the router can help!
