I have purchased a Google Nest Hub and after seting everything up, I realized that the it did not respond to gestures. I tried to disable and re enable them, but it did not work. I also tried doing a factory reset, but nothing changed. I was told that it may be disabled for Argentina, but I can not find any information to check this out. Can anyone tell me if my nest hub is broken or if it is a region problem? Thanks in advance.

When using a device in an unsupported country, features are not guaranteed to work.
I apologize for the inconvenience caused. Please let me know if you two have any other questions or concerns. Thanks.

Gestures only work on the Nest Hub Max or the 2nd generation Nest Hub. Perhaps you purchased one of the first generation ones being cleared out somewhere?
If you're sure you have a supported model, you need to turn on Motion Sense for it to work:

Hi BinaryJay. Thanks for the quick reply. I specifically checked this before the purchase, and was told that its a 2nd gen Nest Hub. I would also think that its 2nd gen, because I can see the option to connect/disconnect the Sleep Sensor and the Gestures. Please see attached screen.

Motion sense is tuned On.

I am out of ideas then if everything is turned on! Potentially could just be a defect in the hardware. If you're willing to try it, you could do a factory reset and then set it up over again but if the problem is hardware then that won't help.

I'll double check that motion sense is on as soon as I get home.

I am experiencing the same issue. I am certain that it is the 2nd Generation display. I have tried everything listed here. Factory reset; ultrasound sensing is on; I have toggled it off and on.
BTW, I'm also outside of the United States (Costa Rica).

Thanks for chiming in that the OP isn't alone with this. I'm going to escalate because if more than one of you has this issue and a factory reset was ineffective it might be a bug that needs looking into.

Hi gmb_argentina,
I do not have an answer as to why certain features do not work on devices in unsupported countries. As I stated before, when using a device in an unsupported country, features are not guaranteed to work. I understand your frustration, it is a very unfortunate issue.
For future reference, please refer to this device availability link. It shows our products and in which country they are supported in.
Also, if you'd like, you can share your feedback. Here are the steps to sending in feedback..
Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns. Thank you.

Ok. Thank you for your response. I'll fill the feedback.
I visited the device availability page and realized that Argentina (As well as a very large ammount of other counrties) is not in googles interest at this point in time. Acording to this page I cannot buy any of Googles devices with support in Argentina. Although I like Googles products, I guess I'll have to switch my ecosystem to Alexa in the future to get supported devices. Luckily this problem was detected before I had already invested too much to make the change. Best regards

Hi gmb_argentina,
Thanks for your feedback. I apologize for the inconvenience caused by your country not being supported for the Google Nest Hub.
Hopefully your country will be supported in the future. As you have no other questions, I will go ahead and lock this thread. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to make a new post. Have a nice day.

Thanks for the reply. It would have been helpful to know this before deciding between the first and second gen. i would have saved money and have almost the same device. I can understand you don´t sell in Argentina, but to criple the devices when you move to other countries is a bit odd. It would be understandable to not be able to speak in our language, but hardware features shoul work anywhere. Is there a work around this? If I cant be sure what will work only because of location, I really doubt google devices will be on my short list of options.

It would also be better to disable the options in the menus, instead of making us spend time and efford trying to make it work, when it will never do.
