Stuck in Factory Reset

Noah_Stegner

My Nest Audio recently started slowing down and being unresponsive to my commands. So from my knowledge of having a slow Google Home Mini, I tried factory resetting it, and typically, it works. But one device is obviously not like the other. I'm sure I had made a mistake by deleting my Nest Audio manually from my Google Home app, on top of unplugging the device while it was still factory reseting (stupid of me, I know). So I plugged it back in and waited for it to restart, left to go see a movie, and came back only to find that it's still stuck in factory reset. Is there a way to solve this issue? Or should I go buy/request a new Nest Audio?

You can try these workaround steps:

  1. On the back of your device, switch the mic off.
  2. Unplug the power cord from your speaker. Wait for 10 seconds. Plug it back in, and wait until all 4 lights on top illuminate.
  3. Repeat step 2, 10 more times.
  4. After you plug your speaker back in the final time, you'll need to wait a few moments for the device to reset. It will announce "Welcome to Google Home. To get started, download the Google Home app on a phone or tablet," to let you know that it’s ready for setup.

Thanks for the workaround but it is not working for me - all I am getting are the blinking white LEDs - I reset my router and unplugged the speaker at least 50 times already but to no avail.  Would appreciate any help you can provide.

To provide the best support with this, I've shared this with the Google Nest community team, who can check on possible options and next steps.

I have the same problem. I have 2 nest as left and right pairs and only one is work. The other is stuck with only the white lights. I have done the same process as the OP.

I already replaced mine. Figured it was defective because it wouldn't factory reset properly, regardless of the mistakes I made.

Hey Melly,

I am sorry to hear you are still having trouble with the device restarting in recovery mode. I would recommend plugging in the device and performing a factory reset on the device. Please make sure that you are not holding the volume buttons down, as this will put the device back into recovery mode. Please let me know if that helped or if the issue is still present.

Best regards,

Jake

Hi Jake. Sorry I took so long to reply as I was out of town. The factory reset still does not work. Each time my hub returns to the recovery mode screen 👎🏻

I have 2 nest audio and 3 nest mini. There is one nest mini that doesn't work correctly. Problems to connect to the cloud, impossible to change the EQ and so on. The others work fine. I've opened already three tickets with Google support but I never received any reply. I am very disappointed with Google, I thing that I will never buy any other Google 's products in the future.

I performed a factory reset on my nest but it keeps returning to the recovery mode screen each time. Any advice?
