difficulty deleting old groups & rooms

What happens when you're following these steps?

Create and manage speaker groups - Google Nest Help (assuming you mean a speaker group, refer to "delete an existing group")

Share a home and devices in the Google Home app - Google Nest Help (refer to "delete a room")
