Whenever I try to watch an episode on any app (HBO Max, Hulu, Netflix, Disney +, etc.) it will go in the app and show me the episodes. However once I go to watch any of these episodes it will go to black like it’s about to play and then just freeze and become unresponsive. At first I thought it was our internet but it says it’s connected and I can stream on all other devices (PC, IPad, phone). I thought it was just a server issue with just one app but quickly figured out that this issue is across all apps. I’ve cleared caches and data, I’ve restarted my internet, force quit all apps, undownloaded and redownloaded all apps. I’ve done about everything but throw it away. Is there something I’m missing before I call it quits on this?

Mine just started doing this EXACT same thing! But its only with Paramount and Amazon Prime. I can search in the apps, but whenever I try to play something, it just sits there then gives an error message. I've went so far as a factory reset of the Chromecast... still same problem.

I'm tired myself of not being able to use apps I pay for. I'm just getting a Firestick.

Hey there Barefield,
I apologize for the late response, thank you for being patient! Were you able to fix that issue with your apps? If not, I'd be happy to help out, as I can imagine this issue has been pretty frustrating. The first thing I would do is check for any updates to the Chromecast, as there was a recent bug-fix update that went out. Then, if that doesn't help, you may need to factory reset the Chromecast to remove any old data that may be affecting playback.

Luckily prior to buying a Firestick, both of mine just randomly started working again.
