Ambient mode settings are blank

I've seen numerous previous posts on this issue with many suggestions. I've tried them all and tried multiple things suggested by Google tech support. This includes factory reset of the device, and removal and reinstall of Home, Assistant, and the Google apps. My Chromecast Google TV devices are using my primary Google account. This is the only account on which I have photo albums. I want to show those albums in ambient mode, but the settings are blank in Home. One thing that did allow options to appear is to login using a secondary Google account, but this doesn't resolve the issue since my photos are on my primary account. Thanks in advance for your help.

I apologize about the late response on this, thank you for being patient! Were you able to fix that Ambient Mode issue? If not, I'd be happy to help out, since I can imagine that not being able to change the Ambient Mode settings is quite an issue. Let me just ask you some questions about what's happening:

  • When did this issue start happening?
  • What model of phone are you using?
  • What version of Google Home are you using?
  • What is the firmware version of the Chromecast?
  • Are you able to use another phone to see the Ambient Mode settings?

Ultimately I had to reset the Chromecast device, reinstall the Home app, and start fresh. I've done this on one device but haven't gotten to the second device yet. I'll let you know if the second one doesn't work.

I'm happy to report that the device reset worked and ambient mode settings are functional again!
