My CCwGTV 4K received the latest update UTTC.241218.004, now I have Android 14.
This update broke playback of direct live TV stream in all the apps. It looks that all the h.264 FullHD streams are affected. The playback is like slow motion with judder and audio out of sync. All these apps worked perfectly fine before the update. Many users report the same (Reddit).
Source is DVB-C, TS stream from my cable TV provider.
Is this a known problem from Google's side? All the devices still on Android 12 are perfect.

Finally, I've found this thread that explains the problems I've been experiencing for the past couple of months. Can't wait for a fix.

At least we now know that Google is working towards a fix. From my experience, I can tell CCWGTV HD started having this issue more than two years ago. There's a reddit thread discussing the issue. This was still under Android 12 and was somehow introduced with an update of the OS.
Took Google long enough to find the root cause and fix the issue. I'm hoping the fix gets released for both versions of the Chromecast, since they're both affected (HD and 4K).

No they are not, they are blaming on the apps we use. Not only they don't fix it they treat clients like idiots. It was definitely my last product from Google. The support is a joke.

Hi
Since the update I can't use Google TV stick anymore for IPTV.
Is there going to be a fix for this ? The h264 code is not matching anymore , the video is stuttering and not marching the audio.
08-25-2025 01:02 PM
Dear Google
If you won't fix this be assured this google TV stick and the pixel 9 phone have been my last products from you. This is unbelievably unprofessional customer service. you destroyed my tv experience with a crazy bad update.
08-26-2025 02:29 AM
Any news about the promise update?
08-26-2025 11:18 PM
UTTC.241218.008.H1.13427172 and CCwGTV 4K also experiencing similar reports (laggy video in most apps). Seems to also break Amazon Prime Video app (trying to play any Live TV channel results in a quick "Something went wrong").
Flagship soft-bricked via software update and consumer-side unfixable; guess I'm going back to DIY boxes.

It seems to me that Google is fighting IPTV. And these inconveniences are intentional.
08-27-2025 03:06 AM
@GoogleNestTeam its surely Your last chance time to fix this issue, there are many more of us outside this forum who have such problem, and still can't use Their stick as it should work.
Clock is ticking, every next day means another client less.
08-27-2025 05:50 AM
Are you kidding us or what is wrong with you ?
Fix this issue immediately!!!!!
Or you lose a lot of customers.
08-29-2025 01:51 AM
Does the new Google Pixel also have this level of support?
08-29-2025 02:37 AM
Exactly my thoughts. Need to replace my Samsung Galaxy and was considering the new Pixel. Probably not a good idea.
08-29-2025 03:54 AM
I have a pixel 9. Basically a very good value for money. But after this mess, and if they don't fix this until September/October, I'm goingto boycott Google.

Pixel and Chromecast are totally different departments and it is a known fact that Google has cut resources to Chromecast/GTV Streamer/Android TV. I don't think we should begin talking about phones on this thread, and threatening to move to products from other companies won't help either. Rather we need to provide the devs with specific details relating to playback of interlaced DVB-T2. It would be helpful if Google could provide another progess update. They claim they have identified the root cause (edit 8/5 on the pinned post), but this was also the case on another Google TV Streamer 4k thread where the same issue was reported and when they rolled out a "fix" (January/February ATV14 update), it did not resolve the issue.

Afer upgrade on android 14 not work eternet over USB , also got the problem with eARC. sometimes it doesn't recognize the external UHD receiver. Have to switch the tv off and on to get it working.

I suggest to report on another thread, this is focused on playback issues, namely DVB-T2.

USB Ethernet worked fine on my CCwGTV with Android 14 (while having the stuttering video issue).
09-01-2025 04:01 AM
When will this be fixed. My device is now kinda useless without it..
09-01-2025 04:07 AM
There's no press covering of this issue. Can't we try to leverage influencers on this? That would perhaps push Google to at least communicate

Here is a quick press release you can forward to all tech influencers that could help us:
Android 14 Update Breaks Live TV on Chromecast with Google TV – Google Leaves European Consumers Without Solution
Since the start of 2025, Chromecast with Google TV 4K devices updated to Android 14 have been unable to properly play back live TV streams. The root cause is clear: Android 14 broke support for H.264 interlaced video, a format widely used in Europe for digital terrestrial (DVB-T) and cable television (DVB-C).
Before the update, everything worked flawlessly. After the update, live TV is essentially unusable.
Despite weeks of user reports and an active support thread on Google’s own community forums (link here), Google has not acknowledged the severity of the problem, provided a workaround, or committed to a timeline for a fix.
Key facts:
The issue affects all live TV streams using H.264 interlaced content, which covers the majority of broadcast TV in Europe.
Streaming apps relying on these feeds — including TV network apps and IPTV solutions — no longer function correctly.
This problem is not due to broadcasters or app developers; it is a regression introduced by the Android 14 update itself.
Users purchased Chromecast with Google TV as a reliable streaming device, but now a core advertised use-case is broken.
Why this matters:
Millions of European households still rely on DVB-T and DVB-C live TV. Breaking such a fundamental standard without warning or remedy has left users with hardware that cannot fulfill its advertised purpose. The lack of official response further undermines consumer trust.
Consumers are asking Google to:
1. Release a software update urgently restoring H.264 interlaced playback.
2. Provide transparent communication regarding the status of the fix.
3. Commit to proper quality assurance on updates that affect essential features.
Tech journalists, influencers, and digital rights advocates are encouraged to amplify this issue and hold Google accountable for failing to support a core standard of broadcast television in Europe.

also, they brought up this issue with android 14(was OK on12):
LLDV - switch issue on hybrid files in media3(exo based players)

and just don't care

Now for me ethernet over USB not work on android 14 Philips oled TV
09-01-2025 12:18 PM
AND now problem with earc no video signal from reciever
09-06-2025 12:17 PM
I don't believe they'll fix this.
And that's why I got rid of Google Streamer.
09-09-2025 12:57 AM
It's been a month since you announced the fix, and I'm wondering if you have any plans for when it should be available.
09-10-2025 11:05 PM
I have the same problem in Melbourne Australia, both of my gccwtv worked perfectly before the a14 update now all DBV-T2 HD channels and 1 SD channel plays in slow motion, shame on you Google your commitment to your customers is appalling, looks like I may as well bin the gccwtv and to think I contemplated purchasing the new streamer, I’m now looking to UNGOOGLE myself, so glad to be sending this on my 10 year old iPad.

Google is actively fighting TV piracy. If someone thinks it is an error or coincident, they must be naive.
09-14-2025 02:56 AM
I use it totally legally, my cable provider gives DVB-C access for my subscription.
09-14-2025 03:05 AM - edited 09-14-2025 03:06 AM
DVB-T2 is legal.
09-14-2025 03:20 AM
Are you a specialist from Google? I don't know what's going on, don't say.
09-14-2025 05:32 AM
Non legit streams are always transcoded and deinterlaced. Only legit broadcasts use interlaced content.
09-14-2025 05:49 AM
Not always. Some providers have 1:1 streams.
09-21-2025 09:14 AM
Still no update to fix it ... really thinking to trash my chromecast devices ...
09-21-2025 09:19 AM
Buy an Apple TV, you won't have any interference. I'm not an Apple fan, but this is the only device that doesn't have any interference.
09-23-2025 07:44 AM
Google just spit on Us... well done.
09-24-2025 10:48 AM
Another one affected here. Still no solution?
09-26-2025 10:36 AM
Done with this issue. All google streamer/ccgtv hardware I own has now been sold off and replaced with Android 12 devices which work with h264 streaming. Never touching google devices again.

Oddly enough, when I tried again the other day after months of having given up, my two small capacity (16GB) flash/thumb drives are now recognized as external storage. However, the main flash drive I had purchased to use specifically with my CCWGTV 4K, which worked flawlessly before the Android TV 14 update, still doesn't work. I am still receiving the same exact error message "Device has been safely elected". The drive in question is a 256GB Samsung Fit+ USB thumb/flash drive. It works on all other devices, even my Shield Pro 2019 running Android 11, without issue. I've attempted multiple different file systems and allocation unit sizes during the drive reformatting(s) ... eg: FAT32, EXFAT, etc...to no avail. Obviously I can't use a small 16GB flash drive as my external storage since the space would be taken up in no time. Google please fix this issue. Even with all the resources available to Google y'all still can't fix this simple issue or at the very minimum revert the functionality back to that which we had in Android TV 12 concerning external storage being detected by the Chromecast with Google TV 4K.

I have ordered today a strong s3 pro streaming box. I don't believe Google wants to fix this after such while and I don't think this is professional to release an update to kill the streaming experience of so many clients without proper testing priorly.
Google: I have a Google Chromecast 1st Gen, the Chromecast with Google TV 2021 Gen, and a pixel 9 phone.
That were definitely my last products I was buying from your brand. You literally spit in the face of your customers.
I'll sell both chromesticks and replace soon the pixel 9 with a different phone.
F..k you.
09-28-2025 02:59 AM
Sell this crap and forget about this company like I did.
