Can't change old wifi network

Kary1
Community Member

Hello,

I need your help, please, I've tried everything!

I changed internet services and now I can't set up my Chromecast, here are some remarks:

1. My Chromecast doesn't appear in the app - therefore, I can't change the wifi network

2. My Chromecast is an old generation - it doesn't have a reset bottom (I guess is 3rd Gen, not sure about that.  It's a flat circle)

Any ideas?

Hi again,

From the Chromecast device:

While the Chromecast is plugged into the TV, hold down the button on the side of the Chromecast. The LED should begin to blink orange. When the LED light turns white, release the button and the Chromecast should then restart.

After manually factory resetting the device then you can set it up using the Google Home app.

Hi Kary1,

All models of Chromecast have a small factory reset button and LED light on the device.

Have a look at the help center link below for more information about factory resetting a Chromecast.

I was convinced that my Chromecast didn't have the reset button... but, I double-checked and I saw it this time! And that fixed all the problem.

Thank you very much!

Yay 🥳

Happy to hear that you have your Chromecast device working again.
