Chrome not finding device to Cast to

Hi, please can you help?

I have set up a TV in my office at work. Ive set up chrome cast to enable me to cast websites etc onto a larger screen. The Chrome cast is set up. When I try and cast from Chrome it is not picking up the device to cast to. Both devices are on the same wifi network. What is going wrong?

To better understand the situation, I'd like to ask a few questions:

 

  • What kind of Chromecast do you have?
  • What kind of Computer do you have?
  • Have you tried casting another type of app to see if that works?
  • Do you see the cast icon when you try to cast from Chrome?

In the meantime, let's check a few things:

 

  • Chromecast Update: Updating Chrome to the latest version is recommended. This can improve casting performance and stability.
  • Uninstall and reinstall Google Chrome: This ensures the latest update is downloaded and eliminates any software conflicts.
  • Try casting in incognito mode: This can help isolate any issues caused by extensions or cookies.
