Chromecast Gen 1 no longer supported by Disney Plus (Sept 2024) (PSA)

Platform label incorrect. platform is Google Home (not android. Android not an option in dropdown menu). 

I spent 3 hours with Disney plus tech support. I can no longer cast Disney plus by saying "hey google play disney plus" I get an error: 


"something went wrong. Please try again. If you continue to have issues, please visit our Help Center at help.sdisneyplus.com LOAD_FAILED -"


I tried a lot of steps with support.. 

Here is their conclusion after talking to their supervisor: 
"I really appreciate your time waiting, upon checking, Disney+ is now only accessible with Chromecast gen 1 with Disney+ app. Without the app you can no longer access it. And even with the app you won't be receiving anymore app updates. I'd really wanted to help but since the devices are no longer supported with Disney+ app, let me process a refund for your 1 month subscription amounting CA$33.92 CAD. I hope this works for you."

Thanks for posting in the Community! I'm sorry to hear that your Google Chromecast Gen 1 is no longer streaming Disney Plus. According to the Disney Plus Help Center, the devices supported are Google Chromecast Gen 2 or newer. I completely understand that this might be frustrating for you and it affects your experience using this device.
 

My recommendation is to reach out to the Disney Plus team directly. They will be able to provide you with the most accurate and up-to-date information on your situation.

Not really sure about this conclusion. Disney+ does not connect to my gen1 chromecast indeed, but does not connect on my Philips smart TV chromecast neither which is more recent and (I guess) not gen 1 ....
