Chromecast Ultra keeps playing the same video on Youtube

When I switch on my TV / Chromecast Ultra, and start playing "Video A" from Youtube, I can watch the video till the end. Then when I try to watch another video "Video B" starts playing and then randomly in the middle of "Video B" then "Video A" just starts playing again. I've done a factory reset on the Chromecast, but it still does it. I can clear the que, exit the app, stop casting from Google Home app, try to play any other video "Video C" for example, and then boom, few seconds later "Video A" starts playing again. The only way I can get to watch any other video on YouTube is to power cycle my TV/Chromecast.

  • Check updates on the YouTube app and Google Home app. Outdated apps can sometimes cause glitches.
  • Restart your phone or tablet that you usually use to cast. A simple restart can clear temporary issues.
  • Restarting the connection between your Chromecast and casting device can improve performance. To do this, forget the Chromecast on your device and then reconnect. Once connected, cast YouTube again. This step will establish a fresh connection.
  • Try to use another device to cast YouTube videos, and check if, with another device, you are experiencing the same case.

Hi,

I've the same issue. I connect via same wifi at home my Samsung device and Chromecast TV. video A is played till the end. Video B starts, but at some moment during playing B it stops and A starts from the beginning. I've done a factory reset for Chromecast TV. Disconnect my Samsung device and reconnect it again. Issue remains the same. This is also for my other Chromecast (older type). The only option I have, at the moment, is to stop sharing via Chromecast, disconnect the chromecast from my device and connect it again for next youtube.

  • Log in with a different YouTube account to check if trouble persists. 
  • Do you have the same trouble when you cast another service stream, such as Netflix or Amazon Prime Video?

Only happens with Youtube, other apps like Amazon, Netflix etc. work fine.

Have already done a factory reset on the chromecast and tried the previous suggested steps.

 

I also have a Samsung Galaxy phone, might be a common factor here between those reporting the issue. Many beyond us having this issue as well as per some reddit posts that come up with a quick google.

I have the same issue. Also have a Samsung Phone and it only happens when the phone is still connected to the cast.

I have a oneplus and this happens with me too. I tried reset, delete all cache for YT, changed account on Google. It still keep happening. Please tell me a solution. Thanks
