Chromecast flashing colors (pink/red)

Hello,

i had my chromecast for about a year and when i started it this morning, it started flashing all kinds of pink and red colors. I tried switching the hdmi entry with another and it keeps on doing it… I also tried the factory reset but to no avail…

is there another way or do i have to buy a new one?

Before I start further troubleshooting, let me ask you a few questions:

 

  • Could you please confirm what the model of your Chromecast device is?
  • Have you tried using your Chromecast on a different TV? Does it show the same behavior?
  • What is the distance between your Chromecast and the router?
  • Is your Chromecast linked to a 2.4 or 5 GHz WiFi network?
  • Could you please check if there are wireless interferences like walls and floors, nearby Wi-Fi networks, other electronics, cordless phones, baby monitors, microwaves, Bluetooth devices, and wireless video equipment?
  • Did you receive any error messages in the Google Home app after performing the factory reset and trying to set up your Chromecast?
  • Have you tried connecting the Chromecast to a different power source? 
  • Have there been any recent changes to your environment, such as a change in Wi-Fi network, recent outages, adding more WiFi devices, etc?
