Hi @phuctranhuu,

Thanks for posting here in the community. I'm sorry to hear you are encountering network inconveniences with your Chromecast 2Gen. I'm happy to help!

To better understand the situation, I'd like to ask a few questions:

  • Has the Chromecast been connected to this network before or is this the first?
  • How far is the Chromecast from the Wi-Fi router?
  • How many devices are connected to the router?
  • Did you receive any other error message?
    • If so, what did it say?
  • Were there any recent changes to the network?

In the meantime, let's check a few things:

  • Signal Strength: Ensure your Chromecast is within a strong Wi-Fi signal. Move it closer to your router if necessary.
  • Network Interference: Check for any potential sources of interference, such as cordless phones or microwave ovens, that might be affecting the Wi-Fi signal.
  • Try a Different Wi-Fi Network: If possible, connect your Chromecast to a different Wi-Fi network to see if the case persists.
  • Factory Reset: As you posted you already reset your Chromecast 2Gen. Please ensure you reset your device correctly. This will erase all settings and data. Refer to this article: How to factory reset your Chromecast.

Keep me posted.

Best regards,

Melany

Hi Melissa,  I am happy to see yoru feedback !  here are answers on your questions:

  • Has the Chromecast been connected to this network before or is this the first? -> Its firdt time.
  • How far is the Chromecast from the Wi-Fi router? -> 4m
  • How many devices are connected to the router? -? about 10. My rounter is Linksys EA9200.
  • Did you receive any other error message? -> I did factory reset, first screen is GG logo as usual, then it back screen for about 15 seconds and appear "Connecting to net work, then "Network problem". It didnt show setup steps !
    • If so, what did it say?
  • Were there any recent changes to the network? -> I turned on/off 5G wifi. thats all.

In the meantime, let's check a few things:

  • Signal Strength: Ensure your Chromecast is within a strong Wi-Fi signal. Move it closer to your router if necessary. -> so close, so the signal is strong.
  • Network Interference: Check for any potential sources of interference, such as cordless phones or microwave ovens, that might be affecting the Wi-Fi signal. -> in a working room so sources are common things.
  • Try a Different Wi-Fi Network: If possible, connect your Chromecast to a different Wi-Fi network to see if the case persists. -> if i just change rounter but use the same internet provider. is that ok?  But as i said if the chromecase can let me do setup process then only i can change network. here it didnt!
  • Factory Reset: As you posted you already reset your Chromecast 2Gen. Please ensure you reset your device correctly. This will erase all settings and data. Refer to this article: How to factory reset your Chromecast.  -> i followed the step, the chromecase even said " perfoming Factory reset....".

Will wait for your further advices!  thanks a lot,

Hello @phuctranhuu,

Thanks for replying.
I understand that the previous steps didn't resolve the issue. I appreciate your effort. Here are some additional troubleshooting steps:

  • Turn Wi-Fi off, then on from the setup device, then reopen the Home app.
  • Force close, then reopen the Home app.
  • Uninstall, then reinstall the Home app.
  • Turn on Bluetooth.
  • Turn on Local Network Access for iOS devices:
  • Go to your iOS device's Settings app.
  • Tap Privacy & Security and then Local Network.
  • Turn on Local Networks for Google Home.
  • Use a different device (phone or tablet) for setup.
  • Connect manually to your Chromecast’s service set identifier (SSID).
  • Open your phone’s Settings app.
  • Tap Wi-Fi and then connect to the Chromecast SSID.
  • Open Google Home.
  • Set up your device again.

Please let me know how it goes. Thank you.

Regards,
Jorge
