Chromecast keeps disconnecting on YouTube app (again!)

When casting videos from the YouTube app on Chromecast, videos will simply stop playing after a few (random number of) minutes and go back to the Chromecast background screen. This started happening on Thursday, October 28th, 2021.

When the issue started I was running the then-latest version of Android 11; now I am on Android 12 (but note the issue started before I upgraded the phone's OS).  The firmware version of my Chromecast is 1.49.250946 and the YouTube app version is the latest.

I opened a similar thread a few weeks ago, and at the time it seemed that uninstalling and reinstalling the Home app fixed the issue, but two days ago it started happening again in full force (i.e. it disconnected like 4 or 5 times when casting a 8-9 minute video). I uninstalled and reinstalled the Home app and that did NOT fix the issue this time.

What else can I try? What can be causing this? These frequent interruptions makes playback of YouTube videos on Chromecast almost impossible.

Happening with me too for about 2 weeks now (was totally fine before). I'll start up my chromecast and youtube app, start a video and it just goes back to the Chromecast Home Screen within 1-5 minutes. Seems to happen when you'd normally expect a commercial, almost like it's trying to play the commercial and crashes the app? Very frustrating --- Have re-installed the Youtube App 3 times, factory reset the chromecast itself, cleared cache, cleared all settings, and nothing seems to fix. HELP!

And it has stopped....on it's own. Now working perfectly for the past week or so...very strange.

Devices: Galaxy S20 Android 12, chromecast ultra connected to Marantz receiver. Philps, Sharp and Sony Android tv. Problem exclusively appears when casting YT from phone to CC Ultra. YT consistently disconnects after a few minutes. More often when ads are in play. Casting from phone direct to Tv's gives no problems.

This thread is started November 2021 and last report 31 Jan. 2022. It's now 6 months later and only once a specialist from Google had decended to this forum and gave a comment as is very much in line with other problems that appear with Google product. Just keep quiet and the problem will go away. As much as I was Google fan the Giant Arrogance is having the upper hand already. Opening up a can of cheap Asian support specialist, whom are only specialists in saying sorry does not improve the bad taste I have in my mouth from Google service. My comment is not Ltd to consumer products in the professional ad market attitude is same. I am sorry to say, how more superior Google products may be, how more inferior the service gets. We all know what happens to arrogant Monopolist in due time.

Get your act together Google and use some profits for serious support I.s.o squandering it on stock buy back programs.

I used my Android Pixel 4a (5G) to cast YouTube music from my Premium account to a Chromecast plugged into my TV.

It played a whole album OK.. my phone was inactive in my pocket for most of the time.

Then I used my phone again to play just one track.. within a min or so the Chromecast stopped and returned to the home screen.

I re-commected and tried a different track.. same problem within a min or so.

After googling I cleared cache and data (so I had to log in again) and made sure the YT app was on unrestricted battery use.

I have now started casting more music and it is going fine. So iether one of those three things I did has fixed it.

I have noticed this happed in the past few weeks and I just stopped trying to cast music and did something else instead.

I'm having the same issue right now but with the Youtube TV app. I'm casting to chromecast and it sometimes just disconnects or it disconnects after I pick up my phone and open another app like email. It then states "this cannot be played in the background. So annoying. I can cast from my computer FINE but with my phone, Pixel 6, I have these issues.
