Chromecast with Google TV (HD) Ethernet Question

developed
Community Member

I have a non-smart TV that is currently connected with a Chromecast (model/version unknown; pic attached) via ethernet. I'm upgrading to a Chromecast with Google TV (HD) with a Ethernet Adapter for Chromecast (4K Google TV) so I'm able to connect it via ethernet (my Wi-Fi is not good in rhis room AND I have home wired [when built] with ethernet).

Will the (HD) Chromecast be compatible with the Ethernet Adaptor (which "says" 4K Google TV)? I'm unable to find this answer anywhere!

My TV is not 4K so I see no reason to buy the Chromecast for 4K TV; BUT will my Ethernet Adaptor work/be-compatible with the HD Chromecast?

I've spent way too long trying to find an answer, so I'm hoping someone here is knowledgeable in these devices and hooking them up via ethernet.

Thanks in advance! Alan

For Chromecast with Google TV HD or 4K, you need this ethernet adapter:

By the way, the Chromecast you're currently using is the original gen 1 Chromecast.

Thanks for your reply! I purchased the Ethernet Adapter, as specified I'm my post, which is same as the link you provided. Too bad Google couldn't simply state in this adapter's "description," that it works for their "HD" or"4K" models!! The only description of the adapter "implies" that it's for the 4K model.

I'm reading/responding via my Pixel phone. I perform all research & ordering on my desktop. "All" of the info I found on this adapter stated (in parentheses) 4K Chromecast! That link you provided was "generic," did not "imply" either HD or 4K model - but I find info available via smartphone vs desktop is night & day. Call me Old School!😉🤙
