Chromecast with Google TV not showing up in Google home

I have multiple Chromecast that were casting fine. Now, none of them show up in Google home.
I already did the basics,

  • Make sure the Chromecast device is within 15 to 20 feet of the setup device and the WiFi router.
  • Restart the router: Disconnect the Wi-Fi router from the socket and leave it unplugged for 2 minutes.
  • Make sure to connect your Chromecast device and phone to the same Wi-Fi band (2.4 or 5 GHz).
  • Restart the Chromecast device: Remove the Chromecast device from the power source. Leave the device unplugged for one minute, then plug it back in.

All devices are running on the 5GHz band, with DHCP, strong wifi signal, and running with DHCP.
I can ping all devices but they will not show up in Google Home.

any help is appreciated.

time is synchronized for both devices
Both devices are on the same wireless network
Both devices are running on the 5GHz band
Both devices have been restarted multiple times
Chromecast was reset and everything worked fine for a day.
Location sharing is enabled
Android device is running Android 11. This is not the cause because another setup just like it is working fine.
I can't get the firmwear version because the Chromecast will not show up in Google home
There are no pending updates
Android TV OS: STTL. 2405-08.005

I am past the basic stuff. I need someone whose knows what is going on please.

More information. Hope you don't mind.. I'm trying to get you as much information so we don't have to go back and forth with things I've already done.
In my set up, I have one unit that has functioned properly from day one. It is the only one out of many Chromecast that has functioned as advertised without any question. I think I know why.

I started comparing units line by line.

The functioning unit, the Android OS TV Build is STTL.240508.005.12011027 with a kernel version of 4.9.269

All of the units that function intermittently have an Android OS TV Build of STTL.240508.005 and a Kernel version of 5.4.259-android-12-9-g95db6f1dfeac

these are the only differences I can see between a functional unit and a non functional unit.

What do I need to do to get these to match?

Hey piperthedj,

Thank you for taking an interest in our community. I’m sorry to hear that your Google Chromecasts aren't showing up in Google Home. So don’t worry; I’m here to help.

It's great to know you have taken action on this matter by performing the troubleshooting steps above, so to continue providing accurate information, please help me out by answering the following questions:

  • What models of Google Chromecast do you have? If you don’t know what model you are using, check out this article: Chromecast specifications.
  • How long have you had the devices for?
  • Where are the devices connected?
  • Could you check the status of the LED light on each Chromecast device and tell me what color you see?

In the meantime, try to perform these steps:

  • Did you perform a factory reset? If so, make sure you have followed the correct instructions. For your reference, take a look at this article: How to factory reset your Chromecast.
  • Reboot your phone.
  • Remove and install the Google Home app. Then pair the devices you are missing.

Keep me in the loop, and I can assist you with more information.

Best regards,

Daniel

  • What models of Google Chromecast do you have? If you don’t know what model you are using, check out this article: Chromecast specifications.

1 model GZRNL functions as intended

6 model G454V function inconsistently..

I am aware both models are discontinued and replaced by the GA series. is the GA series backwards compatible??

  • How long have you had the devices for?

less than 60 days

  • Where are the devices connected?

close enough to the WAP for strong connectivity

  • Could you check the status of the LED light on each Chromecast device and tell me what color you see?

white

In the meantime, try to perform these steps:

already did. everything worked fine for about a day then problems again. I do not want to factory reset the Chromecast every day. I want to flash new firmware

  • Reboot your phone.

Already did. no change

  • Remove and install the Google Home app. Then pair the devices you are missing.

already did. Devices are unavailable to be located without factory reset.
