Chromecast

So I've only just set up my chromecast, everything has been linked, WiFi, apps etc but for some reason it keeps glitching.  I can't watch anything properly or listen to anything because it glitches constantly.  Just wondering if anyone else has had issues similar to mine or can recommend a way to help with my issue please.

Ensure the TV operating system is up to date.

Reboot the Chromecast device - unplug it from the main power grid for about 5 minutes then plug it back in.

Change the HDMI port if necessary.

Elaborate on the symptoms, please.

Not sure how else to elaborate, but I'll try.  So, without even touching the remote, while its on the homescreen, it just glitches, the screen just turns on and off on its own and it's every couple of seconds.
