New Google TV Steamer does not support Deinterlacing. Due to this, deinterlacing does not work in videos! This is very sad.
I remember this problem was on the first Nvidia Shield 2019 firmware, but that was 5 years ago! Do Google developers really not know such basic things?
If the Google TV Streamer software developers are reading this, please add support for deinterlacing video.

Today the update arrived. Deinterlacing was not added! This is just unbelievable! I'm shocked!
Four months of waiting - all this way for nothing!

It seems that the selected deinterlacing mode is incorrect. The image appears as if it's being filtered using "discard" or "blend" methods rather than "Yadif 2x."

Hey all,
A fix was recently rolled out for the issues affecting some users when viewing interlaced content, however we are aware of the reports from folks still experiencing issues. If you're still having problems while viewing content that's interlaced, we would love additional details.
If you could leave a reply to this comment with the following information, it would be greatly appreciated. And if there are other details you think would be important for the team to know about your usage, feel free to include. Thank you in advance!
Please share as many specific details about the content you're trying to view, including:
- Type of content (specific titles is very helpful)
- What app or channel is the content on?
- What is the country of origin for the content?

Thank you! i will also keep this thread updated from my side

We just need Google to acknowledge the deinterlacing issue and to confirm whether or not they will provide a fix. It is not fair on customers who bought the Streamer expecting deinterlacing to work for a device of this spec and price point. Ok if it is something that will arrive in a future firmware update - Google has yet to communicate.
12-11-2024 05:41 AM
That's exactly what I am trying to get now , will let you know!
12-25-2024 09:29 AM
Hello! Do you have any news about our problem?
12-26-2024 08:50 AM
Any news?
12-26-2024 08:47 AM
No news on this issue?
12-28-2024 12:32 AM
The problem of deinterlacing really affects the usability, especially for users like me who mainly use Tivimate live streaming. Now live streaming often looks blurry. I think this problem is very simple for Google.
12-28-2024 12:36 AM
But they don't care

I am having the same issue and decided to try filing an issue on the public issue tracker for Android Media (which has had other Google TV Streamer issues previously). Follow along here

Hi, can all of you maybe click on the +1 here?
01-06-2025 06:21 AM
Done. Really this needs to be fixed like wth.
01-06-2025 06:47 AM
Done. It is ridiculous that Google hasn't even acknowledged this issue yet. I've just swapped back to my Apple TV at this point.

it's such a bummer... It must be a joke...
01-10-2025 03:58 PM
Hey all,
Appreciate everyone who has flagged this concern. We're aware that some are encountering unintended behavior when viewing content that is interlaced. The team is looking into it and hope to have a fix soon. Thank you for your patience.
01-10-2025 03:59 PM
Finally some recognition. Thanks for replying to this and hopefully it's fixed soon.
01-13-2025 04:18 AM
eta on this please?
01-13-2025 04:19 AM
"some"?
01-13-2025 07:08 AM
Yeah for real. Not "some" everyone.
01-16-2025 12:37 PM
One more week has passed. Any news?
01-20-2025 05:17 AM
Hello?
01-23-2025 01:12 PM
Any updates on this issue? Thanks.
01-23-2025 01:13 PM
As I posted yesterday, and update is rolling out in batches that corrects this, you will need to wait for the update to hit your device

Please, pay attention to this comment:

Tested today with Kodi TVHeadend. The Live tv stream is interlaced. But it displayed a fuzzy and jittery image. Kindly fix this soon!
03-12-2025 07:10 AM
Well, we can't see that you have released fix for it yet.
Still in progress or have you given up on this?
01-15-2025 10:08 AM
I agree with the everyone statement. I moved from a Chromecast 4k to a streamer and the quality on a deinterlaced stream is night and day.
01-20-2025 05:11 AM
Wondering if there are any news here?
01-20-2025 05:26 AM
Whoa whoa.. shouldn't we give them three months?
01-20-2025 05:27 AM
Google only acknowledged this issue one week ago.. give the team time to find the issue and correct it.
01-20-2025 05:31 AM
I don't think it is a matter of time, it is about priorities for Google. They got all they information they needed in October last year. Very simple problem that requires quick acknowledgement and a quick fix.
01-20-2025 05:29 AM
I gave them two weeks, then I returned the Streamer.
01-20-2025 05:32 AM
Same.
01-22-2025 09:42 AM
The bug/issue I filed has just updated as:
"The issue has been fixed and watch out for future releases, Thanks."
01-22-2025 09:48 AM
So now we need to wait for new update, right?
01-22-2025 09:49 AM
Correct
01-22-2025 11:18 AM - edited 01-24-2025 04:00 PM
Team is aware, once fixed and confirmed, more information will be released !
01-22-2025 11:19 AM - edited 01-22-2025 11:20 AM
Does this only fix the problem for our Streamer device or for other devices running Google TV 14 as well?
01-22-2025 11:21 AM
This fix would be for the TV Streamer specifically, but what device are you using that is also having the issue?
01-22-2025 11:25 AM
I am not using another device but heard from others e.g. the Nokia 8010 and Dune devices having similar issue after updating to Android 14.
But most important is the streamer 😁
01-22-2025 11:33 AM
Let me know if you can confirm the issue is present on other devices.. google can only do so much from their end sometimes, the interlacing issue on the TV streamer required a firmware update to the device, as it was not an OS issue.. as deinterlacing works fine on the CCwGTV models. I will of course flag to the Google team if the issue crops up elsewhere! perhaps a new post and tag me if you see it.
