How to find google remote in app??

Casting YouTube to my screen from my android phone, there is a video which is asking for confirmation to play. There used to be an in-app remote which you would use to select and confirm 'yes, play this video' but I cannot find it any more. Many forums suggest swiping down on the casting symbol once casting is on, but I cannot see any casting icon to swipe on. Please help!

Hi Rupert2,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community. I'm sorry that your Chromecast is not working as expected when casting from your phone. I’d be happy to help you. Let’s check it out.

Before we get started with further troubleshooting, let me ask you some questions:

  1. What Chromecast model do you have?
  2. Did you receive any errors?
  3. What is the model and brand for your Android phone?
  4. Have you followed any troubleshooting steps in your device or app?
  5. Did you encounter the same issue when casting other cast-enabled apps?

In the meantime, let's explore some potential solutions.

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Restart Devices:
    • A simple restart can sometimes resolve temporary glitches.
    • Unplug your Chromecast and TV from the power source for 30 seconds, then plug them back in and wait for them to boot up completely.
  2. Update Apps:
    • Ensure you have the latest versions of the Google Home app (for managing Chromecast) and the app you're casting from (e.g., YouTube, Netflix) on your casting device. Updates often include bug fixes and performance improvements.
    • If you want to use your phone as a virtual remote control, please check this guide to configure your phone as a Chromecast or Google TV Streamer remote control. You will be able to find all the options and step by step process to do it.

Casting Issues:

  1. Casting Device:
    • Confirm you're casting from a device compatible with Chromecast. This includes smartphones, tablets, laptops, and computers with Chrome browser.
  2. Wi-Fi Connection:
    • Both your Chromecast and casting device need to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
    • Check if your Wi-Fi signal is strong enough. Try moving the Chromecast closer to your Wi-Fi router for a better connection.

In case it helps, you can also follow these good articles to Troubleshoot Chromecast connection or Reboot your Chromecast device.

Please keep me informed.

Best regards,

Mario
