Inconsistent functionality to cast

I just got google fiber and a Nest mesh wifi about a month ago. I'm utilizing 2 chromecasts (1 2nd gen and 1 chromecast with google TV), also utilize the google pixel 7. Every 2-3 days I am not able to cast to one or either of the chromecasts and I rarely ran into this issue on my previous router (ORBI). I am able to see and connect to each of them on Google Home App, however the casting option is not available through numerous apps.

The only way I have found to fix this is to reboot the mesh network then casting works as expected for another 2 or 3 days. I am hoping someone could help me understand what else I can do as rebooting the network every few days seems unreasonable.

I have the same issue with my Chromecast with Google TV and with an Chromcast Audio. Both of them are shown in the Home App and I can even change the Volume on the Chromecast Audio and hear the change notification sound. But in all Apps like Youtube and Youtube Music the devices are not available. Using a Google Wifi Pro Setup with two devices. Have not had the problem before, when I used a "normal" Wifi-router...

Hi there folks,

Thanks for reaching out to our community.

Not being able to cast to your preferred devices can be frustrating, but don't worry. Let's troubleshoot this together.

Here are some things to try first:

  • Ensure your Nest WiFi, Chromecast, and Google Home app are all updated to the latest versions.
  • Disable any guest networks you have set up on your Nest router.

If you've verified everything is in order, but your Chromecast still can't cast to your devices, this article explains how to change the Wi-Fi network of Chromecast or Chromecast audio. Changing your network will refresh the connection and ensure all your devices are on the same network.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,

Angel.
