I am uncertain if this is the proper forum for my question but this is where Google directed me.
The submission form requires that I pick a product that I do not have so I chose Chromecast (1st Gen).
I have Pixel 4a, a TV with an HDMI hookup but no Wi-Fi, and an HDMI cable. That is all the hardware I have. I do not have access to a Wi-Fi network. My cell service is with Verizon.
I have been trying to figure out if there is a way to play videos, movies and such, on my TV by connecting it to my Pixel 4a without a home network, without Wi-Fi and without using my phone's hotspot. I know that with an iPhone and an HDMI adapter it is possible to play movies on my TV that have been downloaded to the iPhone or stream to them. I simply plug the iPhone into the adapter on one end and the HDMI cable to the TV on the other. Easy-peasy. I don't know if there is a similar setup for my Pixel 4a.
Every explanation I have found about playing things on my TV from my Pixel 4a has left me either confused, with more questions than I started, or both. What is the easiest way for me to do what I want?
Thanks.

You definitely won't be able to use a Chromecast device to do this. Chromecasts require a WiFi network with full internet access.
There is a dedicated Pixel Phone community. They have a Help Center that talks about using a dock to do what you want.

Ask for further help in that Pixel Phone forum.
Good luck.
