Hey folks,
If you previously performed a factory reset, we’re happy to report that the Google Home app update will reach all users today.
Please make sure you’re on version 3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio. Check out this help center article if you need help updating the Google Home app.
If you’re still experiencing problems during setup, please reach out to customer support for further assistance.

Thank you for your patience as we worked to resolve the issue with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices. As of today, this disruption has been fixed.
If you did not perform a factory reset, your device should now function normally. If it is still not functioning as intended check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
For users who have performed a factory reset, you will need to update your Google Home app to the latest version (3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS) to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) or Chromecast Audio device again. The app roll out has begun and may take a few days to roll out to everyone. We’ll post a confirmation once the roll out to all users is complete.
We sincerely apologize for this disruption and any inconvenience it may have caused, and we are committed to ensuring all users are back up and running as quickly as possible.

Thank you again for your patience, we have some good news - the fix should reach all users today. If your device has received the update it should be on the following firmware versions:
Chromecast (2nd gen): Firmware version 1.56.467165
Chromecast Audio: Firmware version 1.56.467166
Check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
Please note: If you performed a factory reset during the troubleshooting process, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup the device. The team is working diligently to resolve this, and we will provide next steps as soon as possible.

Crazy stuff, appareantly it has something to do with an Expired SSL Certificate (Shocking considering how often those devices GET UPDATE ON THE AIR) If you did Factory Reset, you can set it back up Again!! I did factory reset mine last saturday; Thank you LTT Techlinked, after seeing it's an SSL issue, you can just set your Phone (or any device) Date BEFORE MARCH 9 OF 2025; And you will be succesful in Setting it up again on your Home App and have it back online, you still won't be able to stream to it, but at least it will be back up online for whenever Google Team sends the fix (HOPEFULLY SOON)

[ ! ] To anyone who did Factory Reset [ ! ]
Thanks to it being an SSL Issue, you can change your Phone (Or any device with Google Home App) to a Date BEFORE MARCH 9 2025 ; And you'll be able to set it up as usual! Stream Issue won't be solved tho, but with Setting it up again your device might be back online so WHENEVER GOOGLE NEST/CHROMECAST TEAM SEND A FIX OVER THE AIR, YOUR DEVICE WILL GET IT!!

No podía enviar contenido a mi tv por medio de la Chromecast a mi tv, por lo que la restableci a valores de fabrica. Ahora al querer configurar de nueva cuenta me dice que no se puede autenticar el dispositivo. Qué te gobque hacer para volta configurar?

Sigue sin funcionar mi Chrom 2 Gen. Encima no me han enviado la manera de resolver el que lo haya restaurado a fabrica! Esto lo hice sin saber que habia problemas generales, pense que era algo propio del dispositivo. Espero una pronta solucion!

Si cambias la fecha del celular y pones 8 de marzo (sácale la actualización de hora automática) podés volver a configurar el Chromecast..sigue sin castear pero se soluciona lo de la vuelta a fabrica

So this happened because their Authentication expired after 10 years.
How does this fly above their heads!?!?! this is seriously sad from such a company, i got no words....
and tells us not to factory reset, when this is the nr1 go to when chromecast fails in some ways lol.
this is beyond sad. Good Job google, now fix the issue and let us watch our stuff =(

1. They laid off the entire team responsible for these devices years ago.
2. Good luck getting them to support a product for two years, let ago ten.
3. The only reason they're trying to fix it is to avoid a class action lawsuit.

The issue occured on all my Chromecast Audio devices (5units). Can you explain why you guys released announcements in delay. Moreover, after a day passed, you’ve announced we can’t attempt a factory reset which is a logical path to troubleshoot devices. What a great guidance. Yes, I’m the one of thousands of chrome audio users having done a factory reset.

Quatro TVs inoperantes em casa, como podem fazer isso conosco. Tenho vários produtos da google. Mas vou rever isso e avisar pra quem for adquirir produtos da marca não comprarem. Imagina, como podemos ter confiança em devices e serviços de nuvem que podem ser simplesmente desligados a qualquer momento. Vou fazer backup de tudo e cair fora dessa marca.
