If you previously performed a factory reset, we’re happy to report that the Google Home app update will reach all users today.
Please make sure you’re on version 3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio. Check out this help center article if you need help updating the Google Home app.

Thank you for your patience as we worked to resolve the issue with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices. As of today, this disruption has been fixed.
If you did not perform a factory reset, your device should now function normally. If it is still not functioning as intended check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
For users who have performed a factory reset, you will need to update your Google Home app to the latest version (3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS) to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) or Chromecast Audio device again. The app roll out has begun and may take a few days to roll out to everyone. We’ll post a confirmation once the roll out to all users is complete.
We sincerely apologize for this disruption and any inconvenience it may have caused, and we are committed to ensuring all users are back up and running as quickly as possible.

Thank you again for your patience, we have some good news - the fix should reach all users today. If your device has received the update it should be on the following firmware versions:
Chromecast (2nd gen): Firmware version 1.56.467165
Chromecast Audio: Firmware version 1.56.467166
Check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
Please note: If you performed a factory reset during the troubleshooting process, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup the device. The team is working diligently to resolve this, and we will provide next steps as soon as possible.

BTW, my Chromecast was not factory reset. It was just turned off when the TV was off

Olá, estou enfrentando um problema irritante, que é o meu Google Chromecast não conseguir ser autenticado pelo Google Home, mesmo depois de executar várias redefinições de fábrica. Espero que isso possa resolver o problema, mas infelizmente não resolveu. Preciso muito de ajuda.

Para volver a configurarlo sin que salga el error de autenticidad, solo tienes que cambiar la fecha antes del 9 de marzo.. configuras el chromecast para que se que se conecte a red. No se puede puede enviar contenido despues pero esta conectado para que reciba la actualizacion

Hola, después de abrir la app home , crear una casa y encontrar el dispositivo Chromecast me sale un cartel que dice "NO SE PUDO AUTENTICAR TU CHROMECAST CONTACTATE CON support.google. con PARA OBTENER AYUDA"
Ya reinicie teléfono, wifi, televisor. No tengo VPN. No conecta ni con red 5.8 ni 2.4

Desde el pasado día 9 del presente mi Chromecast pérdida de acceso debido a que ya no contaba con licencia el producto, sé que están trabajando en esto pero quisiera saber qué va a pasar con los equipos que reiniciamos de fábrica los cuales ya no van a estar conectados a internet y no van a recibir la nueva licencia , quiero saber cómo lo voy a poder utilizar nuevamente .

Desde anoche ya me funciona Chromecast. Yo había restablecido a valores de fábrica, pero no lo hagáis. Lo que hice es retrasar la fecha de mi tablet (lo preferí al móvil por repercusiones de automatismos de la domótica de la casa y otras apps) a un mes antes y después lo reinstalé, así t saltas la línea de comando de la expiración de licencia, y después simplemente esperé a que se cargara la actualización de google para el Chromecast (que es lo que tendréis que hacer los que no habéis restablecido a fábrica) y ya está. AHORA FALTA VER COMO NOS COMPENSAN LOS CASI 6 DÍAS CON SERVICIO. ¿Verdad señór Google? ¿cuentas de almacenamiento extendidas gratuitas, o geminí pro de por vida por la gran cagada? ¿Un porcentaje grande de descuento para otro producto?

Do we have a timeline on this at all? I got a streamer yesterday but that did not work as well... Thank heavens Officeworks has a 30 days return policy... might go the Apple way.. cannot waste a weekend over this...Honestly folks if its a global issue, the fix cannot take this long!!

Auf den vorhanden Gerät nach ein Werksreset des Chromecast 2 das Datum auf den 8 März zurück setzen von wo aus es eingerichtet wird .
Es wird wieder in der Home App angezeigt, vorerst ohne Funktion, nun ist es zumindestens mit den W-Lan verbunden, hoffentlich kommt das versproche Update bald .

Saw this in an post but can’t find it anymore.
I did an hard reset of the chromecast and couldn’t reconnect with wifi. Found The following workaround on here.
Set The date on your device to before the malfunction (before march 8).
return to connecting The chromecast.
See, its connected to WiFi.
