Hi, I am receiving the error message below:
“Bedroom TV TV may be set up, but we could not communicate with it from your iPhone. Make sure that you have enabled local network access in your iPhone’s privacy settings. Then try again”
is this related to the issue regarding 2nd gen chromaecasta?

Thank you for the update. We have 4 Chromecast devices in our home. One I did not factory reset. It was able to grab the update and is now working perfectly. The other 3 which I did perform a factory reset on are still unable to connect. Now wishing I had not done that :-(. Hoping you can get us the instructions to fix that soon! Thanks for your attention to this problem.

Hurrah!!!
Thank You, Google from India !!!
My Chromecast Device is back in order and I can Stream Videos as earlier. I am happy and thankful to Google.
Here is what happened and how it got resolved.
First things First, The issue was resolved only due to the update sent automatically by Google. So NO trick needs to be followed.
NOTE: I did a factory reset and managed to reconnect the Chromecast by charing phone date on 10th March
History:::
1. My ten-year-old Chromecast stopped working on 9th March, showing Outdated Firmware.
2. I did a factory reset on 10th March, and the device went out of sync, i.e. offline
3. Further I was able to connect the device online using the Google Home App by changing the Android Device Date Manually to 7th March
4. After reconnecting, the wallpaper started showing on TV with Time and Temperature but at Google Home app was showing the device Offline and the Outdated Firmware alert kept showing.
5. I kept waiting on Monday-Thursday for any solution but did nothing with the device setting, only I kept checking for an auto fix.
6. Finally, today Morning at 8:50 IST, I got an automatic update from Google and the screen showed updating, but it remained failed on Start at update 0%
7. I kept checking throughout the day and got another TWO updates during switching off on the TV and Decice, both updates failed at 0%
8. FINALLY, just a few minutes back, at 10:10 PM IST, I got another update, that reached to 100%, device restarted with a message, and after restarting, Google Screen with a progress bar, and finally the Screensaver with Time.
9. I connected the YouTube video, and YESSS, it is playing, further I checked the device at Google Home App, and it is showing ONLINE now.
Yes, Google, it is done, and the issue is FIXED, even though I did the factory reset.
Thanks again

The Google roll out works as https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/682576 described it would. You need to get your device back out of reset and idling with a valid ip address. Once you do that then, your device will be updated. The device must phone home to google on timed basis, with this update the google sees your device and must perform a query and downloads their revised certificate on your device. The key take away it has to be on your local network not in factory reset.
If you are still waiting, you can see if your device has a valid Certificate by using a web browser to look at the address your device has on your network, you can get this from your Wireless router if you log into it. I was able to get mine via my Linux Server Router.
Web url: <Your Local Network Address>:8443
A Unix / Linux command that can be used if available on your router
openssl s_client -showcerts -connect <Your Local Network Address>:8443

It works now

Seriously did anyone not factory reset theirs after rebooting, and unplugging several times? Unless you've never done it and people that have owned one for a decade I'm sure have had to factory reset theirs at least once the percentage of people that didn't has to be under 5% and I might be high. Can I see those numbers?
03-14-2025 09:59 AM
i seem to have done a factory reset - when will instructions come to fix the problem?

When can I expect my Google Chromecast device to be up and running and please share the steps I need to follow. It has been very frustrating

It's working again! Really appreciate Google fixing the issue. Please make sure these devices run for a very, very long time. Chromecasts are one of the most innovative and fantastic devices ever made. I would be devastated if it were to stop working indefinitely.
03-14-2025 10:02 AM
We are up and running again in Denmark. But only the one chromecast I didn't reset.
The one I did reset is not working.

I got the update for chromecast gen 2. It started working. Thank you Google!
03-14-2025 10:06 AM

12 hours ago it was not working. A while ago I checked to see if anything had changed and.... IT WORKS! I am very surprised because I had entered the factory settings and thought that was the end of it. However, I followed the method of Maciej Mensfeld, undoing the date etc. and everything is back to normal! Thank you Google team. It is now 14 March 2025, 17:07 GMT.
03-14-2025 10:07 AM
Fatto un riavvio (scollegato dalla corrente) e firmware aggiornato, tutto ok....!!!!
03-14-2025 10:07 AM

Thank you, I'm back up on Chromecast Audio after unplugging for 1 minute and reconnecting. Took a couple tries and then I saw that the update was coming in. I'd also previously done a factory reset, but followed other tips yesterday on setting my phone date back to load back on Google Home.
All good now. Appreciate the support for Chromecast Audio!!
03-14-2025 10:13 AM
When will you provide solution to fix it?
03-14-2025 10:13 AM
TODAY MY CHROMECAST WORKS AGAIN VERY WELL.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH...THAT S THE REASON GOOGLE IS ONE OF THE BEST COMPANIES IN THE WORLD.
APPLAUSES.🙌
03-14-2025 10:15 AM
So if you have already “factory reset” your Chromecast, what should you do now?
03-14-2025 10:21 AM
All these people posting a link with the words "do this" and the link is a Page Not Found. LOL. Awful customer service on Google's part. You buy a product, it's supposed to work. You shouldn't have to worry about the manufacturer forgetting to update the certificate. How stupid is that?
03-14-2025 10:22 AM
yEEhAH iT.S ALL BACK
03-14-2025 10:22 AM
The Chromecast-update is coming through in The Netherlands, right now!!
So we all can stream again tonight!!😁👍👍👍
03-14-2025 10:22 AM
So... Where and when it's the solution? Any answers to those questions?
03-14-2025 10:28 AM
Just be patient, almost there. My Factory reset brick updated itself at 01:17 AWST Thanks Google looks like we got there in the end,
03-14-2025 01:41 PM
