I had m’y chromecast factory reset!
I did the change of date trick, this put the device back online, streaming was still not working.
Now your fix has been deployed and the chromecast is now fully operational.

thanks

Still nothing? Almost one week and nothing.... I have restored  because I never would have thought that the problemas would be from Google...... This is very bad jocke...

I can't believe that Google still hasn't pinned this information to the top of this page, for all the thousands of folks like yourself who have done a factory reset.

In any case, it's an easy fix. Just do this:

First my Chromecasts came online in the Home app but I still couldn't cast. After several restarts of Chromecast, phone and network router I could finally cast again! 🤘😎

The first thing I did when it stopped working was trying to factory reset, as the troubleshooting instructions directed. Please provide instructions for factory reset devices as well.

Take a mobile and set date back to 2024. Start Home app and setup the chromecast. It will work, will update and connect

At this point people should be able to factory reset it again and the Chromecast should work after completing the setup process, just did this with my Gen 2 Chromecast and now it's working as intended.

Had reset then disconnected mine before realising it was a general issue and now it won't reconnect to home. Please post advice when you get the fix sorted for that too.

Both of my Chromecast audio device did receive the update and are working again!

I had to reboot them in order to change their name and see other device information after the update.

To get your Home app working again after factory reset, put the date March 1 in your phone, start Home and connect the device and subsequently put the date on automatic again. Worked great for my 2nd gen Chromecast.

I've actually tried this but my Google home still doesn't pick up my chromecast.

Try force stop and delete cache on Home app. Turn wifi and bluetooth off on phone then back on again. Be close to the chromecast. Then Try again. Keep trying until it finds the chromecast.
