If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.

Same.  I was literally using my Chromecast Audio this morning to stream Spotify.
It looks like someone in the datacenter finally pulled the plug on Chromecast.  I know they ended the product in 2019 and said they'd keep releasing updates until September 2025 but it looks like a TLS security certificate on the device finally expired or something and they didn't update it to a new one.  Now we all throw them away because Google won't allow us to transition it to the OpenSource community and maintain it ourselves. What a waste.

My chromecast worked all morning.  My show ended, and everything just froze.  I couldn't connect from any app.  Showed connection issue in Google home.  I manually factory reset.  It would find the chromecast, and the code would show on my tv, then an couldn't authenticate error popped up.  I deleted chrome from home, factory reset again.  Same issue.  I unplugged twice for over a minute.    Same thing.  Still won't authenticate.

Same for me...

My device is with the same issue.

Same thing happened to me today! Hoping someone replies with a fix

Yeah it honestly seems like google is having some sort of issue, if all of our devices turned weird at once. Hopefully they’ll fix it during the evening

wow! it´s like a blackout?!

Yeah it sucks, but honestly,  I'm glad its not just me being **bleep** 😅

Issue is fixed. Please keep your TV on after connecting to your Chromcast. Google will push the update and system will automatically update and your Chromcast will start working after few restarts.

Thank you Google!

il mio Chromcast non si connette e il televisore non è connesso ad Internet perciò come faccio a ricevere l'aggiornamento?

  • Ciao aggiorna l'app Google home, poi segui le istruzioni per connettere il Chromecast

Same here. Can someone give feedback on whats happening?

So it is not the device, it is s google problem?

It must be!! We’re all having the same issue and got it at the same time. Everyone seems to be disconnected from support-calls as well. Really badly handled from google. Will not repurachse if they don’t fix within 12 hours.

Me pasa lo mismo... Tocó comprar el roku

Oh I'll give them more than a few hours. But I won't buy a new Google product if they try to force me out of this one.

Da me a Torino Italia ieri ha funzionato fino alle 17 circa poi dopo un'ora non funzionava più e non c'è stato verso non sono granché ottimista 🤦🏻‍♂️

Same. Requested call, showed 35 minutes return time. Received call immediately, nobody available and disconnected. Send message option not available and x shows no response. Will they actually address/ fix this?

Discovered my Chromecast had stopped being able to stream any of the apps I regularly use so I ran a quick factory reset to try to fix the issue. With I attempt to reconnect it I now experience an error with authentication.

Ditto from Finland.

Adding myself to this issue. Google has to know there is a widespread issue right now.  Please roll back whatever broke things.  Please also have the integrity to acknowledge you are having issues to the people you make your money from.

Same issue. Said the device was untrusted, factory reset and now it can't authenticate. Was working fine 1 hour ago. All three of my devices are offline now.
