Hey folks,
If you previously performed a factory reset, we’re happy to report that the Google Home app update will reach all users today.
Please make sure you’re on version 3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio. Check out this help center article if you need help updating the Google Home app.
If you’re still experiencing problems during setup, please reach out to customer support for further assistance.

Thank you for your patience as we worked to resolve the issue with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices. As of today, this disruption has been fixed.
If you did not perform a factory reset, your device should now function normally. If it is still not functioning as intended check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
For users who have performed a factory reset, you will need to update your Google Home app to the latest version (3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS) to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) or Chromecast Audio device again. The app roll out has begun and may take a few days to roll out to everyone. We’ll post a confirmation once the roll out to all users is complete.
We sincerely apologize for this disruption and any inconvenience it may have caused, and we are committed to ensuring all users are back up and running as quickly as possible.

Thank you again for your patience, we have some good news - the fix should reach all users today. If your device has received the update it should be on the following firmware versions:
Chromecast (2nd gen): Firmware version 1.56.467165
Chromecast Audio: Firmware version 1.56.467166
Check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
Please note: If you performed a factory reset during the troubleshooting process, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup the device. The team is working diligently to resolve this, and we will provide next steps as soon as possible.

Can we also put it so we can select the firmware version on the device your users have no control on what happens to the device and your security for something that doesn't even have voice command is stupid don't fix what isn't broken. I'm about to take every device and go to Roku or fire stick just because of this issue. Fix my paperweight please

Not working properly. If I manually select the audio device from a display it will work but when I speak to a display to play Spotify on my chromcast audio unit it fails over and over

I changed the date on my phone to march 1st and then my chrome cast connected and updated. Then I changed it back after the update and it continued to work. Try this if you factory resetted as originally advised.

Two (2) of my Chromecast are not at the recommended firmware version 1.56.467165 , they are currently at 1.56.292998. I have tried everything to force an update, reboot and factory reset to no resolution. Google home version is 3.30.1.5 with no update available, again not at the recommended 3.30.1.6. How do I resolve both these issues?

I'm back online today and I had factory reset my device. Two days ago i set my android phone date back to March 5th. Opened the Google home app. Removed the affected device. Added the device again following standard procedure and the device connected to my wifi but I still couldn't stream, however i could mirror my phone to the chromecast. Today when I turned on my TV and chromecast, I noticed that the info on the screen showed connected to my network!! All systems and functions nominal!

Hi, I did a factory reset on my Chromecast, which then changed from Chormcast5815 to Chromecast 6823. I've also updated Google Home app to the latest version, but my Chromecast still won't connect to my Wifi. Can you please help ?

Hey google im having issues with connecting to my chromecast my kids are very sad since they can’t watch anymore please fix it but if you fixed it I just want to say it did not work.
message:master bedroom tv may be setup but we cannot communicate with your phone, please switch on local internet.

This morning I got my Chromecast working again, here's what I did:
factory reset Chromecast (I already did this before Google said not to, so I was not concerned about doing it again)
changed date on my phone to a date earlier than March 9
force closed the Google Home app and reopened it
went through the usual steps of adding a device
Chromecast was added to my home devices successfully
it would not connect to my phone after it was added to home at this point
changed the date on my phone back to the present
force closed the Google Home app and reopened it
clicked on the device and it connected to my phone/Google account and the Internet properly

Doesn't look like the appropriate version of Google Home has been released in the Play store, in Canada at least. Still showing last update at Feb 26. Version 3.30.1.5 -- can we expect update soon?

Ad oggi non riesco a configurare il Chromecast. Purtroppo ho fatto ripristino ai dati di fabbrica pensandondi risolvere invece ho fatto peggio Quando avrò la possibilità di usare nuovamente il Cheocast. È già da parecchio tempo che non va.

i am not using a smart phone to cast. i am casting from my computer. I have windows 7 and my chromecast worked fine until this issue. i did the reset like the site said. now i cannot get my device setup again and i can't download the app. how do i proceed?

i am pleased that i am working again. however, i do resent the fact that just because i do not have a smart phone, i am excluded from the fix for an item that i paid my hard earned cash for. i resent that. i am please with the fact that i was able to get my device working again, so no disrespect for the google techs. most companies are forced into this extortion of the consumer and i want it on the record (ha, the internet, where things never disappear) that i disapprove!!!

Po aktualizacji Google Home do najnowszej wersji 3.30.1.6 mój Chromcast Audio pomimo przywrócenia do ustawień fabrycznych po ostatniej awari, zaczął znowu działać. Super!
Dbajcie o aktualizacje i nie uśmiercajcie tego wspaniałego urządzonka. Dzięki niemu mój ukochany amplituner ONKYO będzie ze mną do końca. Pozdrawiam z Polski.
