Streamer flashing black randomly

Crunchyice

I have a Google Streamer and LG TV. The streamer replaced a Chromecast on the same tv.  When streaming from various services (Netflix, etc.) the screen will flash black momentarily. I disabled all Dolby Video options on the tv.

Before I disabled Dolby Video it sometimes also flashed pink, so I guess this is a step on the right direction.

The Chromecast never did this.  Any ideas?

I received this email from Google Support today.
I appreciate your patience! I'm pleased to inform you that the issue you were experiencing with the purple or pink tint when streaming on Google TV has been resolved in a recent firmware update. Please ensure your device is running the latest version.  Please don't hesitate to reply to this email if you have any further questions or require additional assistance. I ended up returning mine and went back to my Google TV Chromecast.

Google should have done a better job with the unit for its price.

I'm also having the same issue with LG TV but only black flickering. Maybe the 'firmware update' only fixes pink/purple! What a joke.

yep! I am still seeing the same intermittent flashing black screen on my LG C1 television the latest update as well.

Same issue here.

Brand new TV Streamer connected to a 2018 Samsung TV that intermittently goes black for about a second.
It happens both in apps and even in Google TV Streamer settings menu. Audio keeps playing during these "blackouts".
I do believe it is somehow a refresh rate/frame rate issue.

I'm running my audio as Digital Out from the TV to an audio system, if that matters.

What i've tried that has not worked:
*Restarting/powercycling TV
*Restarting/powercycling Google TV Streamer
*Manually setting the resolution/hz (4K60Z, 4K59.94Hz)
*Setting the Frame Rate Matching to Always
*Setting the Frame Rate Matching to Never
*Setting the Frame Rate Matching to Seamless-Only
*Changing the Audio output to Dolby Digital (not plus)
*Changing the Audio output to PCM

None of these settings have helped.

The HDMI Cable/port that connects them is also used for a Steam Deck (i just switch them around when i want to play on the TV) and when i use the Steam Deck connected to the TV through a USB Hub i have zero display issues. HDR on, 4k60Hz resolution. The "black screen" issue does not ever appear when the Steam Deck is connected.

TV model is: SAMSUNG UE55NU6035KXXC 55" NU6035

I will fill in Virnabs form above, too.

Well, it is a costly replacement for the Google TV Chromecast and how can you all of a sudden get this wrong Google?

But then again, the. Mediatek chipset have never really worked for me.

I did return my unit in the end.
