Stuttering / Frame Drops / Whatever on Disney+

This issue has persisted for years as apparent by different blog posts, articles, etc looking back. 

In the past, I have had to disable HW Overlay and that could fix it for a time, then have to reset and do it again periodically. Now it is happening on more content without a fix. 

For example, I tried to watch Muppets Christmas Carol on Disney+ on 12.24.2025, and unlike in the past where there would be a frame drop every several seconds, it was now every second. I purchased directly through Google TV and watched there with 0 issues. (That was on a Chromecast with Google TV (HD) ) Right now, I am trying to watch Star Wars: The Clone Wars on my Google TV Streamer, and have the same issue. I don't know how to put pressure on a company as big as Disney to fix their issue. It is ridiculous to continue for years. I have spent hours troubleshooting. If google could put pressure on them that would be great. I don't want to have to leave the android TV platform...

There is no other option than to report the issue to Disney+ at help.disneyplus.com

Thanks for the update! I went back to using my LG WebOS just for Disney Plus because I had given up hope!  

Me too! haha, at least it's working now as it should, the only issue left is the Quick Media Switching support which still doesn't work as before.

I still seem to get a micro stutter every minute or so, which is what would happen on and off before the horrendous issues of the past couple months... Sigh... Maybe I'm going crazy, or have too high expectations 

Where are you using the app?

The app will never be 100% stutter free unless it uses quick media switching which is not available everywhere.

I am using the app on Google TV Streamer (4K). And I am talking about every minute or so while watching content, for example, Star Wars: Rebels... not when switching media.
