Unable to cast all of the sudden. "To cast, give chrome access in system settings"

I'm unable to cast from my Chrome Browser to my Chromecast. I'm using a MacBook Air.

I keep seeing the error message "To cast, give Chrome access in system settings" but chrome has access already.

I have been casting to my TV for the last two years and this is the first time I'm seeing this message.

I updated my OS, Google Chrome, uninstalled it, restarted computer, removed access and reinstated access, and I'm still seeing this error message.

Anyone else having this issue?

just copy and past the link, you'll see the first paragraph (below). To it's right, where  the window says "default" - Change it to "disable". It worked for me!!

Use the Network Framework for local device discovery on Mac

Use the Network Framework to replace the Bonjour API for local device discovery on Mac.  Mac

I am having the exact same issues. Follow instructions to give permission in "Screen & System Audio Recording" and still no luck.

Exactly the same problem. I am using a Mac Book Air too

I've been having this off and on for a bit now.  Very, very frustrating.  Would be so much easier if I could just download Google Home onto my MacBook Air.

I am also having the exact same issue. All the threads on this issue are from at least a month ago. How long is it going to take before this is addressed?

Just as an update. My most recent macbook software update to Sequioa 15.1.1 has fixed this issue.

Sadly, Sequoia 15.1.1 introduced this problem on my MacBook Air Yesterday

I have the same problem with both my iMac and MacBook Pro; this problem occurred suddenly after updating the Mac OS Sequoia system. I tried all the suggestions, but Nothing helped. Any idea how to fix this annoying problem?...

I've tried everything, and nothing works except one :
download Google Chrome Beta for Mac : https://www.google.com/chrome/beta/
For me, then, Chrome cast works with Google Chrome Beta on my iMac and on my MacBook Air. 😁

Thank you so much! I'll try it on my end, too, and let you know!

Thank you, genius! I made progress! You were right about Chrome Beta Cast working. However.... only audio is heard on my end, and the screen remains black. I added Chrome Beta to the Mac system's Privacy & Security settings (Screen & System Audio recording,  and to Accessibility), but the screen remained black.

Do you know what to do to get the video on the smart Google TV?

Same thing happens to me! when I cast the screen goes black =(

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! It works!!! Truly appreciate it!

Thanks for this suggestion, it works 🙂

I guess one of the reasons it works because this creates a new entry in the Local network tab under Privacy & security settings. I have 6x the same Google Chrome switch now there, all interconnected.

I had extensive contact with Apple Support and they could not help me in any proper way on this issue. I would say there should be a way to get rid of these duplicate "Google Chrome" instances in the security settings. It's quite obviously wrong at least.

Any ideas how to remove really all bits and pieces related to Chrome from your mac on de-install please let me know.

Same issue. Just downloaded Google Chrome Beta. I can cast... in that there is sound but the image is static. Any ideas what to do next?

Somehow managed to get it working. But can't get the subtitles to work. Anybody worked this one out yet?

How did you manage to get the image going? It's still black on my end...

have you tried this :

DISABLE this feature flag: chrome://flags/#use-network-framework-for-local-discovery

This worked for me.

Thanks!

I got the programme I wanted to cast ready and used the cast option from within that screen as opposed to the three dots. Hope this help.

You can try to download Google Chrome Beta and see if it works.

If not, you also can try this :

DISABLE this feature flag: chrome://flags/#use-network-framework-for-local-discovery.

I finally found the solution! I downloaded Google Chrome Beta and it works perfectly. So i uninstalled my other Google chrome app

Without downloading the Chrome beta you can easily solve the problem by Disabling this.

DISABLE this feature flag: chrome://flags/#use-network-framework-for-local-discovery.

Can you give more direction about how to do this?  I've never heard of disabling a feature flag.

Thank you so much!  The good news - I no longer get the same error message as before.  However, now it just doesn't see my devices - including a Chromecast that is currently on and waiting to be cast to.  Is there an additional step to get it to see all the devices available?

Same here. This allows Chrome to search for Chromecasts, but now it doesn't see any of my devices.
