Hi @sleepingtiger,

It seems you're experiencing a persistent issue where your Chromecast's volume fluctuates unexpectedly, mimicking behavior as if other Google Home devices are interfering. This is indeed frustrating, and it's worth exploring potential solutions.

Potential Solutions:

  1. Isolate the Chromecast:
    • Unplug other Google Home devices: Temporarily disconnect all other Google Home devices to see if the issue persists. If the problem disappears, one of those devices might be causing interference.
    • Create a separate Wi-Fi network: Consider setting up a dedicated Wi-Fi network for the Chromecast to eliminate potential network-related conflicts.
  2. Check for Software Updates:
    • Update Chromecast: Ensure your Chromecast is running the latest software version.
    • Update Google Home app: Update the Google Home app on your phone or tablet to the latest version.
  3. Reset Chromecast:
    • Factory reset: Perform a factory reset on your Chromecast. This will erase all settings, so you'll need to reconfigure it.
  4. Verify App Settings:
    • Check casting app settings: Some casting apps might have volume settings or behaviors that affect the Chromecast. Review the settings of your frequently used casting apps.
  5. Examine TV and Audio Settings:
    • TV audio settings: Ensure your TV's audio settings are configured correctly and not interfering with the Chromecast's volume.
    • Audio output: Verify that the audio output is set to the correct device (e.g., Chromecast, TV speakers).
  6. Check for External Interference:
    • Identify potential sources: Look for electronic devices near the Chromecast that might be causing interference (e.g., wireless routers, cordless phones).

Additional Tips:

  • Temporarily disable voice commands: Try disabling voice commands for a period to see if it impacts the volume behavior.
  • Check for app updates: Ensure all apps involved in casting (e.g., Netflix, Spotify) are up-to-date.
  • Power cycle devices: Restart your Chromecast, router, and other network devices.

Remember: It's important to isolate the issue gradually to pinpoint the exact cause. By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the Chromecast volume problem.

If after following this instructions you still having issues or you discover additional behaviors please let me know so we can assist you further.

Best regards,

Josh.
