I have TWO cameras that are paid for annually. I had a problem resetting the cameras after an Internet upgrade. Google support helped me get them working again. I have now received a notice that I need to resubscribe to Nest Aware. I am being charged annually already. What is the problem?

If you had 1st gen Nest Aware subscriptions on 1st gen cameras and you then had to factory reset and reinstall your cameras, the factory reset/removal may have ended your 1st gen Nest Aware subscriptions, which Google Nest quit selling as of July 13, 2023. That might mean you'll receive a pro-rated refund on your 1st gen subscriptions and will have to get a 2nd gen subscription. This is all just a guess.
You might want to try contacting Support to find out what is really going on:
1. Go to https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp.
2. Select a category/product family, and type in a brief description of the issue, then click "Next".
3. Select your device from the dropdown, click "Other", then click "Next step".
4. Under "Resources", just click "Next step". (Clicking one of the listed links will bring up a Help page.)
5. Under "Contact options", choose to get a phone call or chat with the team, depending on availability in your country.
