Google Home App doesn't ring my phone when asked to find it

jdaveault

Hello,

Until recently, my Google Home app would ring my phone when asking assistant or any Nest Device "Find my phone."

Now, all it does is send a notification to my phone but doesn't ring. Did something change? I'd like it to ring again, and I've tried resetting my app, uninstalling/reinstalling it, enabling notifications, relearning my voice, and using a new Nest device, but nothing works.

I've seen a few threads on this forum with the same issue, but no resolutions.

Thanks

I had a similar issue but it was due to do not disturb settings. Make sure permissions are correct in app info as well as checking all app permissions, like display over, override do not disturb,  modify system settings,  etc.  Also sometimes uninstall and reinstalling with remove permissions and it wont ask again for permissions it needs. This frequently happens to me with apps bc there is a setting to remember app preferences, as well as sync settings on new devices,  that one really got me when I i had more tham 1 account logged in. Good luck

Thanks for this, but unfortunately, this wasn't the solution.

Hey jdaveault,

@Ally86: I appreciate your help here!

Thanks for sharing details about the issue here. I know how important it is to be able to ring your phone with your Google Home/Nest device and make sure that it will find the right device when needed. A few questions: what is the make and model of your phone? Do you have another phone connected to your account?

Looking forward to your response.

Cheers,

Muddi

Yep it's an iPhone 13 pro max. I just upgraded my phone about two months ago and I think I removed the old phone.

Hey jdaveault,

We appreciate the additional information. Have you tried reinstalling your Google Home app? Also, could you try re-adding your phone number to your Google Account. Go to https://goo.gle/2ta6qVZ > Phone > Add now > follow the steps.

Keep us posted!

Hi jdaveault,

Thanks for trying. Could you provide us with the iOS version of your iPhone? What's the Google Home app version you have? Also, resetting your Google Home or Google Nest speakers might works too.

Kind regards,

Alex
