Hi Stephanie,
Sorry to hear about your missing energy history. I can understand the frustration behind losing that kind of data. I'm happy to look into this for you.
We're currently aware of an issue with the Nest thermostat Energy History. Affected customers will see a "No usage" message indicated, but tapping the day will show detailed usage. We're working on resolving this issue as quickly as possible, and truly appreciate your patience as we get this resolved.
Let us know if you have any other questions for us!

25 October 2021. I have the same problem. I've been through every combination of restart reset etc on the thermostat, router, app and can't get it to work. History shows on thermostat but not on Android app.
12-08-2021 05:32 AM
I also have this problem, but only for one of my thermostats. The living room one works fine and shows all the usage history. However, the bedroom one just shows no usage every day. It works fine in controlling the heating, but the app does not show the usage, even when I click on the days
12-20-2021 11:46 PM
That's odd. It may be something to do with the network after all, perhaps your living room one is nearer/further away from the router, runs faster/slower. But still no excuse for them not to be able to explain in simple terms and give a solution. Have you contacted the help desk? The more calls for technical support, the more incentive there'll be for them to sort it out.
01-06-2022 11:29 PM
I contacted the help desk and they were adamant that it was a fault with my network, despite all evidence to the contrary. It seems they have now accepted that it's a fault with their server but no nearer a resolution. Would be helpful if everyone who has the problem could contact them to urge a resolution.

This has been an issue now for several years. Can someone from Google tell us exactly what they’re doing to resolve this please. Saying “we’re working on it” doesn’t really cut it anymore. Can we have an update from the engineers involved? Surely a company with the technical expertise of Google can get this fixed.
02-02-2022 07:52 AM
dedmiston. I couldn't agree more. I've lost the will to keep contacting them, it takes hours for them to try and persuade you that it's your network. Disgraceful really. I'd switch to another thermastat but have invested in this one and it's hard wired into the wall, so would cost quite a bit to have it replaced. Aaarrrggghhhh.

I have this problem now for a week, how do I resolve it?
03-01-2022 02:46 AM
Apparently removing the thermostat from the app and then re-adding it works for some people. I tried this without success. I’m afraid Google are not interested in coming up with a solution so if that doesn’t work for you, you’re stuck. The history is viewable on the thermostat itself - just not in the app.
03-01-2022 03:07 AM
You're right, they really aren't interested. Having sold the thermostat, it makes no difference to them whether the app works or not.
06-01-2022 12:38 PM
This problem is exactly what mine is. I’ve done everything suggested on the internet. I guess I’m one of those stuck people. Google doesn’t care!
03-01-2022 03:05 AM
If you've got half a day to spare, you could try contacting the help desk "chat". Almost certainly, they'll bore you to tears doing all sorts of unnecessary checks on your network. When you decide you've had enough of that, they'll pretty much tell you there's nothing else likely to be the cause. Disgraceful lack of support and interest in fixing the problem.

I’m having this issue now and so are my parents with their thermostat.
03-24-2022 02:43 AM
I’m having the same issue, what should I do? Thank u.
03-24-2022 06:08 AM
Unfortunately... Deal with it. Google's issue Which they'll never fix
06-13-2022 06:09 AM
I have started having this same problem as of June 6th, 2022 showing no history until clicked on. Has there been a fix for this yet? If so is there something I need to do to get it fixed?

Guys install the Goggle Home App and include the thermostat on it - it will show yiu all daiky-montly power consumotion graphs- not needing to unistall the Nest App, you can use both. In the google home you may include other devices, lights, cameras, tc

I already had the Google Home App stored on my phone too. By going in to the Thermostat on it like you suggest, it just shows the basic information you would get on the Nest App anyway (i.e. temperature, and humidity etc) and then to get any other detailed info as you suggest it just links to the Nest App. This therefore does not solve anything unfortunately.

This is something you unfortunately have to live with. It has been an issue for YEARS. Never to be fixed. If you speak to Google support, all they will ask you to do is a factory reset. At one point they thought it was the thermostat, and send me a brand new one. The same issue appeared. The issue is obviously back end
11-19-2022 12:11 AM
Same Issue seen over the last few days 17th/18th Nov, no usage when there is definitely usage.
11-26-2022 07:08 PM
Has this been resolved? I am still not seeing any history.
11-26-2022 07:35 PM
There still shows No data daily for history; but, if you click on the day, you can see the history.
11-30-2022 08:40 PM
This is still an issue on three of my Nest thermostats, but not on the fourth (all in the same house, on the same network, bought at the same time). When will it be resolved? Thanks.
12-02-2022 01:49 AM
That is very odd indeed. I suggest you contact the help desk and see what they say. They've been trying to palm everyone else off saying it's down to their network, but they'd have a hard time justifying that to you when you have three other devices working properly on the same network.
12-03-2022 10:30 AM
Is this still not fixed?!
12-03-2022 10:45 AM
Unfortunately, this will never be fixed. It has been several years since I have initially seen the issue. Many people have reported this. Nothing has ever been done about it.
12-04-2022 03:15 AM
Your post is from August 2021, and it would seem that you still have not resolved the problem, as I too am now having the same issue in December 2022! I have tried most of the suggestions in this thread, all to no avail. We paid extra for the Nest thermostat when our new heating system was fitted as we believed it was a better product than the alternatives. It seems that was maybe a wrong choice now! Can you please tell me, and everyone else on this thread, what exactly have your engineers been doing to resolve the issue? Thanks for your help.
12-04-2022 03:50 AM
Dear jpr1312, You seem to be addressing your post to me, asking what's being done to resolve the issue. I don't work for Google, I'm another one of their disgruntled customers regretting buying the Nest thermostat and just happen to have started the conversation. I've had several long and very frustrating sessions with their help desk to no avail and have now given up and decided to drop it and get on with my life. It would be helpful if you could have a go at the help desk and also spread the word about how useless this product is to hopefully prevent other people making the mistake of buying it. I don't believe anyone from Google reads this thread or, if they do, they don't contribute anything. Happy Christmas!! Best wishes, MoiraH

I’m so sorry Moirah, I thought I was replying to 'Garrett DS, Community Specialist'! I will try to contact their helpline and let you know if I’m successful. I know it’s not a big issue not being able to see the usage but it’s very annoying that that facility is not available now! Happy Christmas to you too, and hopefully Google will get their finger out and fix the problem!

Hello Community Specialist,
I can see that a Nest thermostat Energy History has been an issue since 08/2021. Unfortunately, I have precisely the same problem now. It has been four days now that my Nest is not showing energy history. Could you please advise on how to resolve this issue? Thank you.
12-27-2022 06:30 AM
I'm afraid there is no solution. It will never be solved. The issue is the tech. I've gone through everything feasible solution including RMA'ing the device and having a new one sent out. The issue is Google and it will unfortunately be forgotten . Sorry
02-01-2023 05:13 AM
My Nest App is also showing no usage but does when I tap on it. This is really annoying as I like to check how many hours it's on each day that's the whole point of these fancy thermostats surely. Not at all impressed when is this going to be fixed? 😡
03-17-2023 12:31 AM
Hi I'm having this issue. Some days aren't showing total hours yet some are. If this has been going on since this thread was first reported and now in 2023 it still hasn't been fixed, doesn't Google need to pull its finger out and get its act together?
How can this be escalated?
04-24-2023 10:06 PM
I have just installed my new nest and have same issue that some days it shows no usage . I note that Google reply in 2021 was that they are aware and are trying to fix .. did this ever get resolved?
04-24-2023 10:14 PM
I’m afraid It never got resolved. Google have never fixed it and in fact I’d be prepared to believe they’ve never even bothered to even try. I’m at a loss to explain why such a prominent organisation should provide such appalling customer support.
04-24-2023 11:34 PM
A complete reset to factory settings fixed it for me
04-26-2023 11:58 PM
Hello. My nest app is showing ‘no usage’ but when I press it it says it has been on all day when I was out of the house between 9-8. It has the home icon to indicate away mode was activated. I’ve reset the app and nothing has improved
04-27-2023 01:28 AM
We have had Nest for about six weeks and the app has worked fine until this week.
Now we get 'No usage' against each day and even the underlying data is missing for yesterday.
It is outrageous that Nest have known about this since 2021 and seemingly ignored the issue.
Potential new customers have a right to know.

It’s been two years - what is the fix?
