Hey Nest Community,
Two weeks ago, we started rolling out the new Gemini for Home voice assistant. Since then, we’ve been diligently collecting feedback across our support channels, social media, in-app feedback, and here on the Nest Community (we mentioned this before, but we read all of them!).
Today, I’m here to share a recap of the first two weeks to celebrate our launch, address some of the feedback/questions we received, and talk about some of our top priorities.
I’m thrilled to see you trying the new voice assistant and seeing your first impressions! Some of my favorite comments included:
That said, I've heard some feedback that I’d like to address.
The #1 thing most of you are asking about is when you’ll get the new Gemini for Home voice assistant. We’re working hard to roll this out first to all users in the US, and then expanding to other markets starting in Q1. Please make sure the address for your home is up to date in the Google Home App. Thank you for your patience.
We also saw some confusion from users who manage multiple homes and we’re working to make this more clear. For context, Gemini for Home is being rolled out at the Home level and not by account - so what that means is when you get the invite and choose to upgrade, it will upgrade all of the devices in that house (but not across other houses you may have associated with your user account). If you have multiple homes in the Google Home app, you may have only been invited to enable Gemini for Home voice assistant in one of your homes. Please check your other homes to see if Gemini for Home voice assistant has been enabled there. You will be notified again when the Gemini for Home voice assistant is available in your other homes.
We’ve also updated the FAQ to address the top questions we received since we launched early access . We’ve answered new questions, like:
Improving Gemini for Home
During early access, your feedback is critical to helping us improve the Gemini for Home voice assistant. Please continue sharing your feedback with us (the good and the bad). The best way to do that is by saying, “Hey Google, send feedback”, or on the dedicated community thread.
Our teams are investigating issues, addressing feedback, and will keep you updated in our Things to Know blog. Keep an eye out there for the latest update!
Thanks,
Mark, Product lead for Gemini for Home voice assistant
