Hey Google Nest Community,

We recently announced a series of exciting new updates to Google Home. Of those, one that we are really excited about is the new home panel available on Pixel devices.

Why? It makes controlling your smart home much faster by giving you quick access to your favorite devices with only a tap on your device’s lock screen. Let us take you on a tour of the new home panel, right here in the community.

Quick access to your home on Pixel

The home panel brings you quick, one-tap access to your Spaces & Favorites directly from your lock screen, without needing to open up the Google Home app. You can turn on your lights, start an automation, or view a camera live stream to check to see if a package was delivered, with the same powerful controls and live camera views as the newly designed Google Home app experience.

Pixel Tablet transforms into the ultimate smart home controller

When the new Pixel Tablet is docked, the home panel turns your tablet into a smart home controller. From hub mode, the entire household can access and control your home as quickly & easily as a light switch.

And coming soon to the Pixel Tablet, when someone rings the doorbell, anyone in the home will be able to easily see who’s at the front door with a proactive, full screen notification. Quickly answer with Two-way talk or Quick responses.

While docked anyone1 can use voice to control your home: quickly dim the lights, or check on a camera.

Frictionless access, privacy when you need it

You can also access the home panel from the Android lock screen, enabling even faster & more convenient control of your home. Your privacy & security is protected, requiring you to unlock your phone or tablet to access sensitive controls like cameras & locks.

Launching on Pixel devices

The home panel is launching first on Pixel phones (including the new Pixel 7a and Pixel Fold) and the new Pixel Tablet. Home panel will be available when you set up your new Pixel Tablet and we’ll be rolling this feature out over the coming weeks as part of the Pixel Feature Drop for Pixel phones, 4a and newer.

Very nice. Hopefully it doesn't disappear within one OS version like the one in Android 11 did! 🙏🏻

Google should also include option hide quick settings from lockscreen, once the device is stolen they can easily turn wifi or network connectivity

And device can no longer be found by user from find my phone service

Then we can say kudos to Google

I don't seem to have received the Home Panel update on my Pixel 5 despite installing the June Feature Drop.  The view in my Quick Settings has changed slightly, with the buttons a bit more narrow and taller and there's now an option to go straight into the Home app from the overflow menu.  Does anyone know when the full Home Panel update will arrive on my Pixel 5?

I have the same Problem Like chardantons33 with my Pixel 7. Is there something I can do in order to get the new Panel

On the pixel 7 pro, I've not got the new home panel. Only slightly changes. When we get the new home panel? Or what to do?

does the new home panel on the pixel 7 pro not work on shared family accounts devices? do you have to actually add the main google account account to the device, to get the new home panel?

I haven't received the new version yet.

Google Pixel 6, Android 14 Beta since a few days.

What can I do to update the home panel?

When will the Google Nest camera live view be fixed on Google Nest Hub and Hub Max?  The images above show how it should be working on Hub but it does not.  The live view of the cameras does not work on Hub and never has.  It just shows the name of the camera and a black box where the video feed should be.  Why do you keep abandoning older products?

@kevin-in-ky  Hi Kevin, I'm an end user  like you.  I have been viewing my nest cameras (both Gen 1 and Gen 2) on my Google Hub for over 2 years  now.  I'm not sure why it isn't working for you.

You may want to call and speak with a nest tech support person.  Here is the link to open a ticket. After you answer the questions you will be given the chance to speak with someone.

Good luck and if they get you up and running please return her and let us know what the problem was.

Hi @EmptyNester .  I am referring to the home screen where the list of all your cameras are.  It just shows a bunch of blank boxes for each camera on the Nest Hub instead of the live view of each cameara.  As seen below.  If I click on the camera it shows live view, but it does not show the live view from the list screen.  I have 7 camearas.  3 are Nest IQ and four are newer 2nd gen.  None show live view here like it does on the Pixel tablet

Yere you can see on the pixel tablet the live view works.  This is what I'm referring to that doesn't work and never has.

Hi

So what I have been using for when I want to see all cameras at once is the home.google.com website.  I open a separate tab on my computer screen and all cams ( gen 1 & 2) come up as a very slow but definite live stream.   The only negative to this page is it is LIVE ONLY.

Hope this helps.

I used to be able to switch between my homes in the quick settings and can't any more after this update. It's very frustrating to have to go into the actual app to perform tasks at my different homes when before I could just do it from the quick settings

Hello All,

It looks like Google finally released the Home Panel update for Pixels which is on the 3.3 version of the app according to this article:

https://9to5google.com/2023/07/18/google-home-panel-pixel/

I can confirm that I have it on my Pixel 5.

This still doesn't work when a Pixel phone is docked on a Pixel Stand, what opens up is the old Google Home controls UI that has literally been unusable since day-1 (2018).

Can you please implement this new home panel to be the default home controls view also on Pixel Stand please?

@kevin-in-ky the view you're seeing on Hub Max and Hub is correct. I don't think Google has released an expected date for the Hub Max to get the control panel like what's on Pixel Tablet.

What I'd most like to know is why older Nest Cams have that stupid ! logo with the triangle on them. No one at Google seems to be able to explain that.
