Cannot view history clips

I have a nest cam (wired) so I assume this is a gen 2 and I cannot view individual history clips.  Best aware subscription is up to date, clips show up in timeline, but if I select an event in the timeline, I just get the load loop and it never plays.  I can download the clip and it's almost instant so I don't think I have a network issue.  I tried removing and adding one of my camera again and that didn't help.  Since this is a newer camera is does not show up in the nest app only on the Google home app.  I don't think I can reinstall the home app at least I cannot figure out how to do that.  My wife is having the same issue.

FWIW history was working fine in the past but stopped a few weeks ago and hasn't worked since,  history has stopped working in the past but usually resolved itself in a few hours.

Hi @Rajuk,

Thank you for your timely response and the comprehensive information you've provided.

I just want to ask you two more questions:

  • Do you have the same issue on the Google Home app?
  • Do you see the live view on the Google Home app?

Additionally, you can try these steps

  • Disconnect your camera from power by unplugging the power adaptor from the electrical socket.
  • Wait 10 seconds.
  • Plug the power adaptor back into a socket. Your camera will restart.

Thank you for your attention. I await your response.

Sincerely,

Jeremy

1. The home app is the only way to see history as far as I can tell. As I mentioned, this is a newer camera so doesn't even register with the nest app.

2. I can see like view and as I mentioned I can see the clip thumbnails in the time line, just can't see it the actual clip.

As I mentioned I reinstalled one my cameras where I up unplugged the camera for a full minute.

I have Google wifi routers (1 primary, 1 extender). Using the Wi-Fi app,  I'm getting 150+ mbps from camera to Wi-Fi point and WAN upload speed is 24 mbps, not blazing fast, but that what I was getting prior to the issue.  Plus I can download the clips with no issue.

Forgot to mention, I deleted cache and app data from Google home app made no difference.

Does the Google home app auto update?  I just uninstalled it and reinstalled and that fixed the issue, but I'm unsure if you that was because it was an older version of the app because I forgot to check before uninstalling.  It is no 3.22.1.4

Hello @Rajuk

Thank you for your prompt response and the detailed information you've provided.

I understand your preference for using the Nest app with your Nest Camera 2nd gen. While it's currently designed to work primarily within the Google Home app, we're always looking for ways to improve our products. I know how useful this would be for you. I would like you to submit feedback through the Google Home app or this form Feedback for future reference.

Additionally

Regarding your clips, you can try using this link: Google Nest Web, and if you have another smartphone to verify the clips of your Google Nest camera 2nd generation, you can try it and let me know how it works.

Regards

Jeremy
