Google Nest Doorbell is Dead???

Davir

Hi. Three days ago I noticed that my Nest Doorbell was no longer responding. No light on doorbell. App message was said  "Camera offline".  Also noted that the doorbell itself was very hot to the touch. Tried a  reset but absolutely nothing happened. Tried a factory reset but same thing...nothing. Doorbell just unresponsive and no light.

I checked voltage at the transformer and the wires and all was good. Removed the doorbell and touched the 2 wires together which rang the inside chime.  This doorbell has been installed and working fine since purchased on Nov. 26, 2020. Haven't even had it for 2 full years.

Thanks for any help/reply.

I’d try to set up a support ticket and see what happens. Your troubleshooting so far is thorough and seems to lead to the unit itself being non-responsive. I hate to say it but your conclusion may be right. It might just be dead.

Try hooking up USB power to the back of the doorbell.  Very similar to my post except that my Nest Hello is less than 4 months (may be just 2?) old.  Open tech support ticket.  If they tell me to reboot my router or move it closer to the doorbell one more time...😡

Thank you for the reply. I'll try the USB hook up and see if anything happens. Can you tell me where do I go to open a tech support ticket. I can't seem to find it here?

Well No Luck. I'm sure it is dead but contacted their support and followed all their steps to check it (which I had already done). And finally came to the conclusion it was dead. I purchased it on 11/26/20 so was told they could not replace it as warranty was only 1 year and it had expired. So I am left with a useless piece of Google equipment because it died 6 months past its warranty. Sadly that's how these large Multi-million companies deal with customers now days.

Hi there,

We understand where you’re coming from. However, we won’t be able to process a return for your device since it is already out of warranty. You can reach our Google Nest Support team for further assistance.

We’ll be here if there’s anything else.

Regards,

Steve
