Nest app, home.nest.com, and Nest Hub streaming of older Nest cameras all unavailable

ALL Nest services for all of our older cameras and doorbells are currently unavailable in Minnesota, USA.

For at least the last half hour (since at least 9:30 am US central time):

  • Accessing the Google Nest app yields a "There is a problem connecting to the Nest service" error message.
  • Accessing the home.nest.com website yields a blank screen.
  • Trying to livestream an older Google Nest camera or doorbell on a Nest Hub yields a "Sorry, couldn't reach Nest" error.

Cameras can still be accessed on the "Preview" home.google.com website.

There are no outages listed on the status.nest.com page.

Thanks folks for sharing this and sorry for the inconvenience. Our team is aware of this issue and working on a fix. In the meantime, all migrated accounts can try the Google Home App or https://goo.gle/2UZL8VI to control and view your supported Nest devices.

Hi . My nest app on phone isn't recognising my email and password. I've tried logging in through google but not recognising either. HELP!

I just bought 3 NEst protect smoke detectors.

I installed the app and it asks me to sign in to google, I sign in to google and give access to the nest app and then I get a message the the nest app is having troubles communicating.

I tested on both wifi and 4g and 2 phones.

I also saw that the site home.nest.com is not working.

Is this normal? Can somebody please help

So is this fixed? I can sign in now to the app but I can't seem to add devices to my account? Is this wat over €300 gets you? Big disappointment

I managed to sign in to the app. After almost 2 hours I also managed to add my 3 protect smoke detectors. I have to factory reset them multiple times. It was a very frustrating configuration.

All three showed up fine eventually. But now I see that one of the detectors is offline. It is online in my router however.

I'm very disappointed with this product. I paid over €300 and I had to spend hours to configure it and it still doesn't work perfectly.

Hi nielst1,

Thanks for sharing that with us. I’m sorry for the trouble here. What’s the status light of your Nest Detect?

Give these steps a try:

  1. Make sure Google Nest Secure is set to Off Nest Guard off. Otherwise, the alarm will sound when you try to restart Detect.
  2. Press and hold Detect’s button for about 10 seconds. When the light ring pulses blue, release the button.
  3. Detect will reset itself and automatically try to connect to Guard again.
  4. Check your Detect with the Nest app to make sure it’s working normally. If it’s having trouble, the app will tell you.
  5. If you disarmed Nest Secure earlier, remember to arm it again.

This is not about detect, it's about protect.

I'm also not planning to constantly factory resetting my devices.

Currently 2/3 protect smoke detectors are offline in the app.

Can this be fixed?

A couple of days ago, the Nest app on my iPhone worked as expected. Not today. Neither can I reset the password. Nor can I submit an email to report it, so, here I am. What is going on with Google? Why is Nest so broken and there is no response with a fix or helpful information?

I would appreciate understanding what has gone wrong and when will it be fixed.

I am having a similar problem. My Nest Thermostat E is working, but not the app. I am signed into the app and my Internet is fine, I just cannot see the app on my iPhone. I have to be able to control the thermostat from my phone. I would appreciate immediate assistance. Something similar to this happened not too long ago.

I need to rephrase part of my previous comment. I can see the app on my phone, but I cannot open it. I am already signed into it.

I'm having a similar issue. My app on my iPhone is not working. It wants me to sign back in. Forces me to integrate to google account. I changed my password and it still won't log in. Very frustrating. My thermostat is working just fine, but I have no access controlling it from the app. I threw out app and re-downloaded it... nada!!

It took me 2 to 3 weeks last time I had the problem to get it fixed. And SO much time it took! It's great when the app works; but when it doesn't, there are just an abundance of problems.

Same here can’t work my heating off my phone what’s the fix guys ???

I think it's the Nest server, because just a short time ago, I tried again. That time, the thermostat actually did show up for about 30 seconds on my iPhone. But then it vanished.

My nest application logged me out and now I cannot login back into the application. The reset password form is not working. I use password manager and the password is 100% correct, but the app does not pass though. The login happens with nest account, not google sign in.

No changes were made to the account. I didn't migrate to Google and didn't plan to. I had my nest account that I used to manage my thermostat and was perfectly happy about that.

I'm using iPhone, the phone didn't change, after I've returned from the vacation the application was in logged out state and I could never log back in.

I don’t know what I did, but I can’t log into my nest account only Google Home and that one will not let me save video clips

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear that. No worries, we'll check this out. Is your Nest account migrated to Google or none migrated (legacy)? When did the issue start? Do you have an Android or iPhone? Also, on the Nest login screen did you sign in with Nest or sign in with Google?

I am also having this same issue.  I have an android phone and cannot log into Nest app for our Nest Protect smoke & CO alarm.  Reset password doesn't work.  Emails are never received.  Downloaded google home app, and it says I need to use the Nest app, sending me directly to the Nest app  and right back to where I started with not being able to log into the Nest app.

I do not have the same phone number associated to my account to get my verification code

logging in with a new phone and don't remember my password. forgot password does not help

Hello having the same issue, can't login to the Nest app on IOS. Tried to reset password fonction multiple times but no emails received including in my junk folder. And I don't what to migrate to Google home. Want to continue using the Nest app. Tks. 

I am having this same (very frustrating issue). I would like to add three Nest Cams to my current Nest camera. I can get logged in to my current camera through email, but when that option populates in Nest Cam, it pulls my GSuite email and I cannot get any further. I don't hold out much hope seeing the lack of responses to previous posters' questions. Please help!
