PEELING NEST DOORBELL CAMERA

Debi3324

I see I'm not the only person with the issue of peeling on the face of the doorbell camera. There is a one year warranty but obviously nothing goes wrong in the 1st year. The material that is used on the face should be able to last without cracking & peeling for at least 5 yrs or more. This product is obviously defective & not made to be used outdoors. You are clearly,  intentionally making defective products that last only 1 yr.

If you continue to make angry, dissatisfied customers, we will be taking our business to RING or elsewhere who don't have this issue & actually care about their products & customers. If other doorbells don't have this problem then clearly Google/Nest is using crappy material from China & all they care about is taking the customers money and screwing them! Wouldn't expect anything less from a company who supports crooked Biden!!

How many people are having this same issue? We need to get a class action suit against Google!

Looks like there are many users facing this issue and unfortunately from what I can see the only users getting replacements are within the warranty period.

@Debi3324

You could purchase a silicone case--like we and other customers have done--to cover up the peeling.

With your post, there are now 278 threads about "peeling" Google Nest Hello Doorbells in this forum and another 21 threads about "delaminating" Google Nest Hello Doorbells. One of our Nest Hello doorbells--20 months old--is peeling. That Nest Hello and another one of ours also won't ring the internal chime anymore due to a failing internal battery (another defect with hundreds of posts here in this forum). It certainly seems both are clearly known defects. Yet in spite of all these reports Google Nest says they "cannot" replace them if they are more than one year old. "Cannot"??  It seems rather they will not do anything.

In previous posts, I've suggested that customers with Nest Hello doorbells that are peeling--or failing to chime due to a failing internal battery--be given a discount on a new, RE-DESIGNED Google Nest Hello Doorbell (NOT the new battery doorbell) that has a user-replaceable internal battery obtainable from Google Nest and that corrects the susceptibility to peeling. So far, no one from Google Nest has responded.

So I not only wasted money buying the crappy Nest doorbell, I just wasted money buying the silicone cover. It does not cover the peeling on the lens! I wish I was able to share a pic but it doesn't give me the option to add an attachment. I guess I'm going to ditch it so I stop getting aggravated looking at my peeling piece of crap when I walk up to my door!

I'm not sure I know what type of silicone case your talking about.

Here’s an example with the Nest Hello wired.

I just saw the responses.  I would think Google would at least send the silicone case to customers who have peeling issues. Obviously you don't value your customers. I will never purchase another Google nest product and will tell everyone I know who is looking to get a doorbell camera or any camera for their home, not to purchase Google nest products as its not made from quality material. I've never heard anyone complain about the Ring products. Live and learn but won't make a mistake twice.

Is Google sending the silicone case to customers with defective face of camera? Or are we supposed to buy it ourselves?

This is something you would purchase on your own from places like Amazon, Best Buy, etc.
