Unable to load image trying to work with zones

Dewoeste
Community Member

I set up zones a few days ago.   Want to tweak them but when I go to Activity Zones I get Unable to load image message.

Current zones and notifications are working.  Camera is online and working.

Trying to avoid resetting the camera.

@Dewoeste

Perhaps deleting and reinstalling your Google Home app would fix the issue.

Hey there,

Thank you for bringing up the concern you're experiencing, I would love to look into this further for you. The first troubleshooting step that I'd recommend would be to restart your device. This process should keep all your settings, and reconnect it to the same Wi-Fi network. This is helpful if it ever freezes, has connection problems, or isn't working normally.

Best regards,
BradHi there,

Hi Brad

We have done that already and the problem here is with the nest app on Android. Everyone is facing the same issue.

So I suppose it is not the device.

Regards

Aj

Hi Brad, I have restarted the cameras, I have removed and readded the cameras, all to no avail. I can sign into the website and make the change, but as others have said the problem is the Android app. And before you ask, I have cleared the cache and storage, uninstalled and reinstalled the app and no change. Thanks for trying to help!

Brad,

Not sure if you took the time to read all the posts or not, but your advice does nothing to help.  It's on Googles side not ours.

It's the recent update to app on Google/Nest side, not my devices. For the record, I restarted phone, router, cleared cache, etc.  It was all working, until Google updated apps.  Something seems to go wrong EVERY SINGLE TIME there is a Nest update.

Google Nest Support: with 4 customers reporting an "unable to load image" when trying to access Activity Zones, it sounds like there may be a problem on Google Nest's servers.

Is this happening with any device other than the 2nd Gen Google Nest Doorbell?

Is it being investigated?

Experiencing the same thing in the Nest app with my new Nest Hello! (switched from 2nd gen battery version bc of its inability to stay charged long enough in extreme cold).

Mine is happening with my Nest outdoor camera. I was able to modify activity zones via the website.

All cams. Outdoor IQ

4 indoor, 1 outdoor cam - all wired.

As an update, I was able to modify my activity zones via the website. Still not working via the Nest app, but there is a workaround.

Awesome. Its obviously not a full solution or a fix but you're right that it worked through the website. Thanks!!

I'm also having this problem and I also seem to no longer be able to see the preview video if I am no on wifi somewhere.  I can click the preview pane in the app, which is just spinning, and see the feed just fine but just not the preview

I am also having the same issue with both my doorbell and outdoor camera. I've power cycled and it hasn't changed.

I'm having the same unable to load issue on my android. Works on home.nest on pc though. Google get your act together

Update,   I can load the zones on my android too, if I use home.nest.com but it won't work using the nest app

Still can't load zone images on nest app. What is going on Google

Google wants to be a monopoly and control everything. Like all monopolies, they screw up customers service and don't resolve customer problems. I regret migrating to this screwed up company called Google.

Having same issue.  I went on the website and created two zones.  I can define notifications on my phone.  However,  family members that were getting notifications before I added the zones don't get any notifications on the new zones

Update. I was able to resolve the notifications issue to family members after I had created new zones on the nest website. On their nest app notification settings they had  notification settings for the zone now named, Outside of a zone. Setting everything to none for this zone on all Nest apps allows notifications to function for zones created on the nest web site.

So now back to original issue...

Same problem here with Nest Hub Maxes and Nest Hello.

This is happening to me as I installed my replacement nest hello 2nd gen wired

Strangely issue seems to be only on Android. On IOS the Zones are working fine.

Iam  getting wexed with Google and the bugs. Unfortunately there are too many devices to reset everything and the pixel 6 pro is the worst phone I bought on Android as it has serious comparability issues with Google products.

I am having same issue--all cameras--since the last update.

I have the exact same problem.  Here is the kick! Only thru the Nest app and on my 2 - andriod phones.   I have 2 other iphone users in my home and NO ISSUE!  Imagine that Google talking to google devices is the problem.  I'm not very happy.

Imagine that. Since I had my pixel 6 pro I have had nothing but issues. Previous I had a Huawei p30 and a few Android phones but the P30 was the best phone I had so far.

I'm having problems in Nest AND Home apps.  Home doesn't even recognize I have Nest Aware.  It was working fine, until Nest/Home updates.  The cams recognize previously set zones, I just can't access to change them.

Same thing man. But use home.nest.com on a browser and you can change it.

New update for Nest app just installed.  Seems to have fixed zone issues, as I can now view.  Haven't tried to make changes yet.

I installed the Nest update as well. Can now see, edit, and create zones in the app.

Me too, looks like the update fixed the issue.

Same here, the newest release 5.70.1.2 fixed the issue.

Google never acknowledged the bug in this forum thread even though replies kept coming in every day. Instead, pointless troubleshooting steps were suggested, wasting everyone's time. Communication leaves a lot to be desired.
