green light does not stay on, missing many events!

Hi, I just got the indoor/outdoor Nest camera. I'm using it indoors. The green light does not stay on and most security events do not get recorded. What troubleshooting steps can I take? Thanks.

and is there a way I can watch the live feed from my computer (desktop) as opposed to opening the app in my phone?

If you read between the lines on this Google Nest help page (link below), it seems the steady green status light for the new Google Nest Camera Battery is on only when it is recording activity if it is running in battery mode and not wired/plugged in. (In our case, we bought one of the power cables, so our Google Nest Camera Battery is always powered and always streaming, so the green status light is steady.)

The new Google Nest Camera Battery cannot be accessed from a computer on the Home Nest website. See this blog on the camera: https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Blog/New-Cameras-and-Google-Home-app/ba-p/4632

darn. that would have been a nice feature - so I can watch it while Im working. Thanks. Maybe they will consider that in the future? So I don't have to open up my phone and watch the tiny live feed and drain my battery.

Is the unit connected to power or is it running on the battery?

Hi, it was running on the battery (at 98%). It seems when I plug it in, it works (stays steady green) But what's the point of calling it battery powered if it has to be plugged in to work? I don't get it.

When running on battery the camera enters an idle (low power) state until it detects motion.  When motion is detected the camera powers up and starts recording.  The issue I have noticed is the motion detection is less sensitive when the camera is running off the battery.  Events that would have been detected when the camera is connected to power are missed when the camera is running from battery.

thank you all so much. I appreciate it. I didn't expect a response so quickly. I'm just going to leave it plugged in since it works more efficiently that way. Thank you.

Thanks Brad. I thought I closed the thread. It turns out that I have to leave it plugged in or else the green light doesn't stay on. It's kind of annoying and the product is misleading (since it claims it works on battery power) but at least it's working. Thanks for checking in.
