So l just bought a Chromecast 3rd gen device, and set it up on my Samsung smart tv, using the google home app. All connected and set up ok, but when l pull up a tv program on my Samsung galaxy phone, and click the "cast" logo...NOTHING HAPPENS ! All l see is the "screen saver" type picture that chromecast displays. Help please ! What's gone wrong ?

I figured out what the problem was. What l didn't mention was that l was casting thru a vpn (NordVPN) I was trying to watch BBC iPlayer, but apparently you can't do that thru Nordvpn. When l disconnected the vpn,l was able to cast ok. I understand you can use Nordvpn with Firestick, so l'll try that instead ! Thanks anyway.

If casting isn't starting it could be a communication issue, a phone issue..etc
First step is always reboot your phone, see if that works. You can also power cycle the Chromecast. Make sure both devices are on the same network. Can you cast anything at all? Do you have another device you can try (like a laptop or computer ) . Let me know and I will try to help!
