Nest Doorbell Gen 2 not working with mechanical chime

I just bought a Nest Doorbell Gen 2. I upgraded the transformer to a 16V 30VA transformer. I installed the chime puck. Nothing in the chime box is blocking the mechanical plunger or touching the chime bar. The mechanical chime was working with my old "dumb" doorbell button.

When someone presses the doorbell button, the chime doesn't move or even try to move. It seems that everything in my chime box is not responding.

The Nest Doorbell itself is working great w/ my Google Home app and my Google Home Hub, I'm just trying to get the actual mechanical chime to work too.

Any suggestions of what to check?

You might have to contact Support (https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp). We don't have the new doorbell, but there seem to be some issues with the new "chime puck" on the new doorbell. Some users are reporting that their chime only works WITHOUT the "chime puck".

On this thread, one user contacted Support and was sent a new puck with 4 wires instead of 2. It's not clear whether Support just sent the customer a 4-wire "chime connector" from the older Google Nest Hello Doorbell, or whether they've updated the new "chime puck" with a new 4-wire version.

That kind of makes sense. The old puck was a relay to the chime. The new one seems to be in parallel. I'll try removing and see what happens. Thanks.

Okay. Tested without the puck and the doorbell looked powered off if the puck isn't connected to the chime.

I also checked the voltage coming across the chime when the doorbell is rung and it's something like 14V.

Just out of curiosity, why do you have 2 wires going to each post on your transformer? We have 2 wires going to ONE of our posts, one from each doorbell because we have 2 doorbells; the other post is wired to the "Transformer" post in our mechanical chime.  Do you have another indoor chime and or another doorbell?

That's a great question. That's how it was wired with the old transformer so when I upgraded the transformer I just kept the wires in place. I'm not aware of another doorbell or chime.

@kenthejr

Well, where those wires go may very well have something to do with why your chime doesn't work with the "chime puck".

Do you by any chance have 2 wires going to each post on your doorbell? I saw one post in this forum from another customer who had that because they had 2 chimes and 2 transformers wired in parallel.
