Chromecast

Casting videos and photos from Google photos to Chromecast used to work fine. Now however if I try and cast a video and get one frame of it and it freezes. I have done a reset from Google home on the Chromecast device and I've tried restarting all three devices. This all used to work fine  not sure when it stopped as I don't use the service a lot. Anyone else found this problem casting video from Google photos to Chromecast. I am using a second generation Chromecast. Which is the latest version of firmware 1.56.275994. any help greatly appreciated.

Hi Find4u,

 

Thanks for reaching out. What device are you using to cast and view your Google Photos? Since you are also encountering the freezing issue when casting a video, have you checked if this is happening in all Chromecast-enabled apps? Try the additional below:

 

  1. Disconnect from Chromecast, then recast.
  2. On the casting device, toggle Wi-Fi off and then on.
  3. Close any resource intensive apps that are open.
  4. Turn off power saving mode.
  5. Decrease the distance between the TV, casting device (phone, tablet, or computer), and Wi-Fi router.
  6. Make sure that the casting device meets the minimum system requirements to support casting.
  7. Make sure your casting device's OS is updated.
  8. Reboot your Chromecast again.
  9. Reboot your router.
  10. Reboot your mobile phone.
  11. Use a different mobile device.
  12. Reset your Chromecast and Google Home again.

For the Google Photos, please reinstall the app and ask again your Google Home to cast your photos to the TV.
